Recommendations for barns in Raleigh, NC

I’m potentially relocating from California to North Carolina next summer. I would love to find an eventing barn as close to Raleigh as possible (I’ll be at NC State for grad school). I have two OTTBs, one is my eventer and one is my mostly-retired 3’ hunter.

For my eventer, I’d like a stall with run, and for my older gelding, a paddock or pasture would be ideal so he can move around. Ideally, I’d love a covered/indoor arena and trails. I’m just starting out in eventing after years in the hunter/jumper world, so I don’t need the high-end, super expensive barns or trainers.

Thank you for your recommendations!

Cassidy Sitton is an Eventing trainer located in Knightdale at Hidden Spring Farm. Southern Pines is about 45 minutes away and there are tons of Eventing trainers. Caitlin Romeo has a great facility. You may want to join the Triangle Equestrian page on Facebook for suggestions. It covers that Area

NC barns are going to be quite different from what you’re used to. Not a lot of barns with runs, or with indoors. The weather there is so nice it’s not needed.

There aren’t tons of eventers in the immediate area, although Southern Pines is 90 minutes south and has lots of great schooling/events. In the Triangle you have Cassidy Sitton, as mentioned, plus Holly Hudspeth north of Durham. Doug Payne is supposed to be building a new place near Durham as well but it’s been years in the making. However, there are lots of hunter-oriented barns if you want to look into that.

Aside from a lack of eventing barns right around Raleigh, it’s a great place to live. Enjoy!
