Recommendations for breeches?

Im currently in the market to trade out my old breeches, I’ve ridden in tailored sportsman almost my entire riding career but I’m not thrilled to spend 230$ on a pair right now. I show in the A rated hunters and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for some breeches that are at least slightly cheaper?

RJ Classics.

I have a couple of pairs of the Horze Grand Prix breeches that I really like. They are older now so I can’t remember what I paid but I think they are still under $100 and sometimes on sale. They run a little long though, or they did, which works well for me as I am tall and normally need a “long” or “tall” size and their regular ones fit me pretty well, so if you are very short you might find them too long. Mine have held up for years though and I find them comfortable and flattering. I just wish they had a sock bottom instead of Velcro.

Edit to say that I don’t see them on their website now, not the model I have at least. I only see them on their EU website but maybe you can order from there? There are some available from other stores but they are more expensive.

I’ve also had good luck with Poshmark for breeches.

RJ Classics Gulf are a great alternative. A lot of people love the Romfh Sarafina, too. I quite like the new Ariat Eq Trifactor, too.

I’m personally in love with the Romph sarafinas. They are super comfy and have held up great thus far. I do not recommend Ghodos. I have a pair and the silicon grips pealed off after my second ride in them which hasn’t happened to any of my other breeches with silicon grips.

How do these fit in comparison to TS? I’ve heard to size up but I’ve also heard they’re pretty similar.

Romfh Sarafinas, Smartpak Hadleys are my go-tos, personally. The Smartpak Pipers are cute but don’t hold up to the amount of riding I do and don’t fit my body type the best. I have never had a pair of the RJ Classics but have only heard good things! I also hear good things about the Horze Grand Prix.

I buy most of my TS used through a dedicated FB group. If you’re okay with low-rise, front-zip, there’s always some available. If you’re looking for mid-rise, they’re harder to find secondhand. Typically a used pair that is still in pristine condition will run me about $130.

I’m afraid I can’t say- TS isn’t a good fit for me so I’ve never worn them.

I like the tech fabric of the RJs- it’s lightweight and easy to brush dust off of.

Dover Wellesley for schooling: fabric is a little thicker, good for colder weather, hold up nicely and very flattering, good “hold” on the body, higher waisted.

I show in Struck breeches (good for athletic figures), my absolute splurge favorite are Samshield, beautiful and very comfortable.

The best TS “imitator” I’ve found are these: https://www.amazon.com/Elation-Huntseat-Breeches-Platinum-Chelsea/dp/B07F2L18QW. They’re almost 100% identical.

However, my favorite breech at present is the Tredstep Symphony Nero II: https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/tredstep-symphony-nero-ii-knee-patch-breech-19581. You really cannot beat that price. No, they don’t have all the “fun” colors that TS do, but the material is more like the ultra-high-end tech breeches (Equiline, Samshield, Struck, etc.) and they are incredibly comfortable—and stain-resistant.

Third affordable option that was mentioned upthread: Horze’s Grand Prix breech (https://www.equinavia.com/horze-womens-grand-prix-silicone-knee-patch-breeches-36272-lbr/p).

These three pairs are my most-worn at the moment.
