Recommendations for cavalleti blocks?

I think it is time to buy some cavalletti blocks. I’ve been using random old wood that I find all over the place around here, but my “poles” (tree branches) keep falling off. I’m wondering if there is some kind of style that is not ugly but is also horse safe. I feel like those plastic ones are very horse safe, but ugly. The wooden X ones look nice, but if a horse landed on one I feel like that could be disastrous. Are there other options?

In the meantime, I think I’m going to use horse bedding bags, like this:

I feel pretty proud of myself for thinking of that. Definitely horse safe, unless you leave the horse with them unsupervised and they eat the bag. Not terribly ugly. I guess I am just thinking I’d like something that’s actually designed to be used for this purpose.

Problem for me with your bag solution, and with any other supports that are not attached to the pole, just to point out that I am not criticizing you individually, is that you have to pick up and move three things every time you want to change the location of a pole.

If you are the ground person, as I frequently am, this gets tiresome. I’ve tried the white plastic blocks, the stacka ble Razers (sp?), and have returned to the attached traditional wood X’s for that reason.

ETA wrong link! Actually these: https://www.burlinghamsports.com/store/product/77337/Riser-Blocks

I don’t move my cavaletti too much and I like the flexibility of being able to change the height of the rail or only raise one end.

Over $100! I am in the wrong line of work. Cavalettis are easy and quick to build. You can DIY this very easily OP. I wouldn’t worry about the X shape either.

Ack sorry! That was the wrong link. Actually these: https://www.burlinghamsports.com/store/product/77337/Riser-Blocks

Still not cheap, but you get 12 for $370 which is much better than the first product I linked.

I’ve seen this idea floating around but it would limit you to one height.

We’ve used those kiddie potties from Ikea for years. Inexpensive and work great.

I have the riser blocks and they are great.

I’ve been using those potties as risers for years… Love them

I bought a bunch of these last fall! They dont hold up the best and will crack easy if someone steps wrong, but as cheap as they are, I dont mind the trade off.

I think kids potty seats are much uglier than the purpose made blocks but YMMV. I have and like the blocks. Don’t find them ugly at all? Plus they can be used as jump filler which is a nice dual purpose. I like the wooden Xs better, though, due to only moving 1 thing at a time as someone else mentioned and the ease of changing heights. The blocks can do a bunch of different heights but then you have to adjust each side separately (which can be a pro in some cases).

Yes, I’ve always made my own using 2x4s.

I made these for $11 per pair. I sell the plans on Etsy but they’re really easy to make / reverse engineer. I made them to work with 4x4s for convenience.
