Recommendations for horse portraits and memorial ideas

I lost my heart horse on Wednesday. I am looking to get a portrait commissioned, does anyone have any recommendations of any artists they have used before?

I also have her halter and nameplate and a decent amount of tail that I am looking for ideas as to what I want to do with. Any suggestions?

For the hair I REALLY love my bracelet, I had it made with a braid of my beautiful departed horse, woven with my current mare…

I wear it all the time.

So sorry for your loss

So sorry you lost your horse.

I have two suggestions.

There are two posters here, one makes wonderful paintings of your horse, another uses stained glass to do so.

I put my first horse’s bridle in a shadowbox. I also included a shoe, a lock of mane, a photo of him, and an engraved plate with his name and dates.

I have my second horse’s halter and tail and a shadowbox to put them in. I just haven’t done it yet.

I did have a pottery horse head bust done with his hair and painted with his white markings.

OP, so sorry for your loss. When I lost my gelding a family member commissioned this artist for a picture on a coffee mug:

Do you mind sharing a picture of the shadowbox? I would love to put my gelding’s bridle in a shadowbox with his photo, but having trouble figuring out a way to make it hang up - I’d like to eventually hang the shadowbox up on the wall.

I don’t have a link handy, but I’ll see if I can find one later.

Not that it would help as far as attachment method. I used the bits of Velcro supplied with the box and wrapped it around the crown and far cheekpiece. The Velcro had a sticky back and I stuck bits to the laminated photo, horse shoe etc. The bit actually rests on the bottom of the box ( I didn’t put the reins in).

The box back is black so the black Velcro pretty much disappears against the dark brown bridle.
