Recommendations for old school basics-first jumping trainer in the Los Angeles area?

I am searching for someone who trains hunter riders old school, including a lot of work without irons, longe lessons, jumping with no reins in a chute, and a lot of flat work including basic dressage - really learning to feel where the horse’s legs are, precision control of the horse at all speeds. Patience is a must (no short fuse, criticizing, swearing), and good with kids.

Does such a trainer still exist? Price/location are flexible. PM’s are fine if you prefer not to post publicly.

Leslie Steele at Acres West in Calabasas. She’s awesome!

Leslie is awesome. Also, Nick Karazissis sr. at far west farms sounds right up your alley.

Thank you! I will check her out.

If you want a good solid riding school then both Elvenstar in Simi Valley and Fieldstone in Moorpark offer great opportunities to ride in lessons that focus on fundamentals. The added benefit is that both facilities host shows throughout the year where you can test your skills in a competitive, school horse level friendly field.
