Could anyone recommend a vet for a PPE in Western Oregon. Horse is in Eugene
area but owner unwilling to use local vet.
Review of Oakhurst Vet clinic in Newberg? that is the vet owner prefers…
Oakhurst is an excellent practice.
I’d also recommend Northwest Equine Performance in Mulino-- which is farther north than Oakhurst. They are the premier lameness practice in the area, but they may not do PPEs.
Lisa Campbell DVM is in Oregon City, very good too.
Sylvia Ouellette, now at Oakhurst, was my vet for years until she moved. Highly recommend her. She’s been recommended here before. AKA Sylvia Greenman.
Oakhurst is AMAZING and Sylvia is a rock star. Truly. They are my go-to vets for just about everything, even tho it’s an hour haul for me.
However, make sure you aren’t using the owners vet.
The only vet I know in the Eugene area is Tina Steward but I’m not in that area so can’t speak to her actual “vet self” only that she’s a rider/trainer/chiro.
Just based on the description, I believe I know who owns the horse.
Oakhurst is very reputable and they do great work, but it’s better to use a vet that doesn’t already know the owner, if possible. I have worked with Dr. Ouellette also, and was very happy.
Our barn has used NW Equine Performance for several PPEs in the last year. They’re excellent. Oakhurst is a really good practice too, but I think using a vet that isn’t associated with the seller is best.
Thanks, I sent pm
You might want to contact Annie Fike who manages Oregon Horse Center in Eugene. She may know competent vets in Eugene or Salem. I use Oakhurst. Very thorough great staff
