Redback Boots

Many times here I have recommended Redback boots. I have loved every pair I’ve had. Comfortable and wear like iron.

However, I used to purchase them direct from a shop in Australia, which no longer ships Redbacks to the US. It has been at least 5 years since I purchased a pair, and I recently ordered a new pair through Amazon.

They are awful. The leather is stiffer, the fit is smaller, the instep is much tighter, and the footbed feels less supportive. I boxed them up and sent them back. So disappointed.

So, I’m rescinding my recommendation.

I tried them when my old Dansko were just too old, a couple years back, maybe?
Someone on COTH had said they were so nice, like a better Blundstone.

I agree, what I received was a very stiff boot and with a way too narrow vamp, could not get my foot in there.
I too sent them back, disappointed.

Feet come in so many shapes, I am sure there are some that those boots fit fine.

Huh, that was not my experience. I got my first pair about 6 years ago. They lasted 4 years with minimal care and lots of use. I replaced them a couple of years ago and the new pair is still going strong. Maybe it depends on the model. The model I got has a steel toe. They were expensive at about $180, however I got tired of spending ~$100 and having to replace them about every year.

No, I ordered the exact same model in the exact same size as my last pair. The boots I got were definitely different than my last pair. Thankfully, the return was free.

If they came off amazon, they could have very well been fake. Amazon has been as sketchy as eBay, lately. My recent Redbacks have been the same as they always are.

That’s a fair point. It was a third party seller on Amazon and they are the ones that are most known for selling fakes.

I just bought a pair at Devon (based on recommendations here) and I love them already. Leather is excellent quality and I tried on a couple of pairs to get the right fit. I have really high arches and plantar fasciitis so fit and comfort are priority for me. Saratoga Saddlery had a rep from Australia selling a couple of brands there - might try to contact them?
