Redfield Farm

Hi,

Does anyone here ride at Redfield and would you guys be willing to talk to me about how you like it? I don’t currently have my own horse and I am away at college for most of the year but will be wanting to ride when I come home. Any details would be great.

Thanks!

Paging Tha Ridge!

You might want to do a search. I believe there are several ladies besides Tha Ridge who ride there and reside in NYC. As far as I can recall the comments were mostly quite positive.

Hi, I ride at Redfield and I absolutely love it. I’m pretty new (been riding with Emil since late Aug/ early Sept) but I’d be happy to answer any questions you have!

Thanks Kat.! I sent you a PM.

fannyeaton - I ride at Redfield as well. Emil heads the main show/sales/training program and owns the farm, and Ashley (who I ride with) runs the local/at home program. Emil does all the big shows (Ocala all winter, lots of HITS, Kentucky, Lake Placid, all the indoors) and is on the road a lot. Ashley does mostly local one-day shows and teaches lessons at home, but we do go to a few week-long shows each year (this past year Garden State and a couple HITS in Saugerties).

If you ride/show with Emil, I think you’d need to lease/own your own horse, but it’d be worth talking to him about it as he’s great and super accommodating with options and always has tons of lovely, lovely horses around as the sales program is very active so you never know! Ashley has all types lesson horses (most of which are show quality and can clean up at the locals), plus many of those of us in her program lease/own horses and show at all levels from mini-stirrup to big eq. She does show leases on lesson horses if you want to show, and she does have some horses which have been half-leased. I’ve been riding with Ashley for about a year and a half, started out taking lessons, started showing lesson horses, leased a horse, then bought. I live in NYC and commute out with a few friends who also ride there. We all love it!

Happy to provide more information if you have questions (especially about the lesson/local program), though Kat can provide more information on riding and showing with Emil himself!

ammye - Thank you! I’ll send you a PM because I would defiantly love to learn more about the lesson program.

it’s so rare to find a quality program like this with possibilities for those who need lesson/half lease horses and a “local” option. Refreshing!

I ride at Redfield with Ashley as well. I just take lesson as I am living in NYC and in college.

Ashley is the best and very accommodating with my sporadic schedule, and the horses used for lessons are fantastic.

Feel free to PM me with more specific questions!

The H/J barn I worked for got some really lovely horses from them for clients… given the very high quality of the horses I’d suspect the program is quite nice.

Redfields rocks. You will not be disappointed. Ashley is the bomb.

I have friends who have both leased from Emil and trained with Emil at finals my trainer could not make it to. Experiences have only been positive and they have the rep to prove it. It’s a fantastic program well worth looking into.

Thank you so much! Everyone I have talked to has said wonderful things. I cannot wait to experience it for myself. I am waiting to hear back from Ashley, but I am very much looking forward to trying out Redfield. Thank you all for being so willing to help me.

Emil might be the only, ONLY human being in any way horse affiliated who I have never heard a negative comment about. That says something knowing horse people

Great choice.

I ride with Ashley too!! She is a fantastic trainer!! She has taught me soooo much in the 2 plus years I have been riding with her. You will not be disappointed!
