Registration for Hanoverian foal

Has anyone out there experienced it taking several months to register a foal? Foal born in May, registration sent in, checked with office several times, the last time being in October, and have been told everything is in order. They charged my credit card several months ago, and I have his USEF number. Is this the normal time that it takes for this registry? It is my first experience with them. Thanks everyone!!

Are you just trying to get a lifetime USEF number? Is this the registry you are talking about above?

Trying to register the Hanoverian foal. All paperwork done, money paid, DNA, microchipping, usef has the number, but the breed registry has not sent me his papers. Multiple phone calls to the registry and I am advised that " everything is in order" or " just waiting on the usef number" " it should be soon" . I am just trying to figure out if this is normal procedure for this breed registry. Other registries ( Holsteiner and KWPN) I have dealt with have been very quick about registering our offspring. This is my first experience with this registry.

I assume you’re referring to the American Hanoverian Society? I have found the Registrar’s contact (Sandy) to be infinitely responsive to my questions, though I assume you’ve been in contact with?

For the record, I have a 2018 foal that was registered with the CHS last year. They have only just begun to send out papers (in January), and I have not yet received them. (Though these are issued from the Hannoveraner Verband, so I am attempting to be understanding of slow mail…) From my understanding, this is normal procedure for the HV.

When my foal was registered with RPSI (now Westfalen) 3 years ago, the foal was 15 months old by the time I got the actual German papers.

Yes I have spoken with Sandy and with Hugh Bellis Jones as well as another lady. Everyone was very nice. All said that everything was in order. Still no registration. Thanks everyone for your responses. I am Glad to hear of some other experiences with breed registries.

Have you asked when they will be sending papers out? The HV at least, was able to give a concrete timeframe for that (which is how I know they are going out this month - more specific than that though, I am out of luck with… Say it aint so to 15 months though, @soloudinhere!!) and if the papers you are looking to receive are being issued through the AHS office and mailed through the AHS office, I feel like they could probably give you a decent time-frame on when to expect that… Fingers crossed for you!

It sounds like the hangup is at USEF. So I am curious as to how you got his USEF number. ???

From USEF

I’ve got 3 registered Hanoverian, with 2 more on the way-and have always found the AHS office to be very helpful. If you already have your USEF #, not sure why that’s a holdup; but in applying separately for USEF #s for other horses, I’ve experienced backlogs there- never seem to get that done without a few calls to USEF. If AHS says all is in order, I’d just email them regularly as a reminder. It’s a small office- but they do make sure every i is dotted and t crossed.

Thanks! That is my feeling also. I am thinking that it has just fallen through the cracks! But they did run my credit card in October. I am a very small breeder and did not present this foal last year so understand that there was no rush to get it done last year…

I also have a May foal that I’m awaiting papers on. I have her USEF number too. My check was cashed long ago and when I called them Sandy said things were in order but just taking some time. Still waiting - patiently.

Thank you so much for letting me know I’m not alone in this registration process. I suppose it is a good thing that I didn’t take him to inspection.

Meaning, I would not have had his papers to present

As someone who works for a breed registry, there can be a variety of hangups on a registration. And some registries just print papers in giant groups, so you may not get them right away after papers have been completed.
