Regumate - when to use?

Hello all,
Under what situations do you consider supplementing?
How do you determine if it’s necessary?
Do you use it as a precaution?
What is your protocol?
Can you test levels in time to prevent a lost embryo?

As always, I have reviewed the great info from Kathy & Jos:
http://www.equine-reproduction.com/articles/Regumate.shtml

But still not sure… if I am interpretting this correctly, odds are 1:17 that early embryonic death is caused by low progesterone.

Older maiden mare, apparently bred before and checked in foal but absorbed somewhere along the way. Internal exam and US all normal, mare was bred last Friday and I do have Regumate on-hand but I hate handling the stuff so I wavered and did not start it. Now I am second-guessing my choice.

Thoughts?

What does your vet say?

You might join the FB Equine Repro page and you will likely get an answer from Kathy or Jos. I don’t think they post that much on COTH anymore…

not for breeding purposes but when she’s in heat showing her is difficult…I was hoping to use it as needed not continually.
