Last October I moved to Louisville, KY from Wyoming and I was wondering if there are many people around the area (Louisville or Southern Indiana) that participate in endurance and anyone I may be able to ride with.
I live just outside of Louisville, welcome to the area! I don’t do endurance currently, but I want to… I would like to do a LD later this year. I work too much to have time to ride as often as I want though…
Anyway- there are rides at Clark State Forest in Henryville, IN (less than 40 min from Louisville). Check out www.oaats.org, there are more nearby rides listed there, and Daniel Boone Distance Riders though their website hasn’t been updated in a long time.
My horses aren’t fit enough for trotting for hours currently, but I try to trail ride every weekend, mostly walking with some trotting/cantering mixed in, so if you’re up for an easier ride sometime let me know…
P.S. not sure if you’ve explored all the trails in the area yet, but with all of the rain we’ve had most places are really muddy… Deam Lake is mostly gravel trails and no mud this time of year.
