Relocating to Raleigh, NC Area...Need boarding recommendations.

Hi there,

I am relocating to the Raleigh Area from Colorado and I am looking for reputable boarding facilities in the area near the Apex, NC area preferably but I am willing to travel as well. I am hoping to find some place with stall board with daily turnout that is under $550/month. I am not looking for training or lessons currently either. No need for an indoor or covered arena. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading!

Are you on Facebook? You will probably have better luck on Triangle Equestrians. You may have to travel from Apex. Land is getting bought up quickly around Apex and Cary (especially horse farms) so board is going up. I think there are barns out towards Willow Springs that do straight board. Good luck!!

Check out Pepperwood Farm in Fuquay-Varina. May be more than you need (has an indoor). Great care. Plenty of turnout. Good luck with your move.

I believe Pepperwood is at 750. Most everything I’ve found is somewhere around 750 in that area, so definitely ask on the Triangle FB group. Maybe there’s some small private farms with openings.

Great! Thanks guys so much! I appreciate all of the help so far. If anyone else has other suggestions please feel free to post them.

You simp!y can’t provide full board for less than 750 with care and amenities…

Fair enough- Thanks for your thoughts.

There are plenty of options in the $550/month range for stall board. I think you’ll have a harder time trying to find a place where you aren’t stuck riding in a program that might not be your cup of tea. Join TAE, search past boarding posts, and facebook stalk your heart out. You’ll find a good fit–there are lots of good barns including plenty of private farms that have a spot or two for boarders.

I agree that your budget can be not that far off, but finding one that won’t require a training program may prove the more difficult part. I board in Raleigh, for not too far over your budget on full board (no covered or indoor), but we have a training/lesson requirement - and are full. Good luck and welcome to the area!!

There are plenty of smaller places. Look in Pittsboro or some farms in N Raleigh that are super easy to get to off 540.

Are you willing to be in a training program? Or do you want freedom to do your own thing? What part of Raleigh are you moving too? You might find more affordable things toward Zebulon.

I am not currently interested in being in a training program, but might be interested in that later down the road. I’m thinking I’ll most likely be out towards Cary/Apex area. I will be working in Raleigh though.
