Remember my balky horse? Now under saddle!

Not sure if others remember, but about a year ago I was given a horse that had somehow become so balky he wouldn’t even lead.

He couldn’t be ridden and they wanted to put him down.

He is now walk-trotting under saddle and his nerves have gone. We haven’t tried cantering yet, just trying to keep him super happy and associating being ridden with really awesome things, but I feel like we have made huge huge strides!

Just had to share a happy transformation!

Bravo!
It’s so nice to hear. Some people just don’t want to put in the time some horses need. I am so glad you gave this one a chance.

Here he is! He is a very tall saddlebred, so he may look a little odd to sporthorse eyes. He took a long time to mature, but he finally seems to be getting it!

He is a Hunka Goodlookin’ horse!

Thank you! I thought he was never going to grow out of his knock-kneed giraffe phase. He is 8 now and finally starting to look like a real horse…most of the time. He is still a giraffe. This is him peeking in at me cleaning stalls.
