Remembering Teddy

Thank you. He was quite the presence!

Teddy was the first eventing pony (or horse for that matter, followed by Custom Made - guess I had a soft spot for the rides of the O’Connor dream team!) I fell head over heels for. I did plenty of school projects on him back in the day.

Does anyone know what happened to the breeding program he came out of ? I remember his breeder used to post here but that was years ago.

My sister rode him in his first Horse Trials.

His breeder’s name on COTH was pwynnnorman (perhaps not the exact spelling).

One of Teddy’s half-siblings was with Christian Trainor for a while, but I can’t remember if she sold him when she moved to Australia or not.

Christan had a stallion full brother, Theodore al Coda, who would be about 15 now. She did sell him … I think he was gelded and competed through Preliminary.

Barb Crabo competes a half brother (Mine the Melody, by Miner’s Lamp). I think the dam was sold but not sure if she’s still around, I think she would be around 30 now. I think the breeder has a stallion full brother, Kevlar, and a couple of related mares, but I don’t think she is actively breeding at the moment.

I remember seeing him live both times he ran Rolex. He was amazing… IF anyone remembers the movies Angels in the outfield that was Teddy. He had more hang time in the air then anyone else… The Angels were certainly on his side… So sad what happened to him. Pwynnorman was his breeder not sure what she is doing these days as that was some time ago… HE belongs in the same category as Stroller…

I remember seeing him go first at Rolex. What a superstar. Litterally cried when he died.

I was so fortunate to see Teddy warm up and do stadium at Florida Horse Park- it was a joy to watch him and KOC. I bought the Breyer Model and cried when he died as well. What an amazing pony! Will never forget hearing a story about KOC nearly coming off of him when he started bucking in the water jump at Rocking Horse- she was like- OMG, I CANNOT FALL OFF THIS PONY- I will never live it down! Made me laugh- gold medal Olympian almost gets bucked off by a pony!

I love love love watching his '07 Rolex round and hearing the crowd cheer “yay Teddy!!!” What an amazing heart that pony had.

Teddy who was actually named Connor for the majority of his life and career ( Karen changed it to Teddy after she took the ride on him after he was doing the old 3 star) and was named after a tennis player. Funny he never bucked or acted up once with me all the way through Advanced, not sure what happened to make him start doing that later with Karen and her groom. I did have his brother Coda and have some frozen semen of his still in the US. He was gelded and sold when I moved to Australia and competes with his amateur owner quite successfully. I do miss Connor ( Teddy) every day still.

Wynn posted on FB this week that she is looking to place her mares, and has at least one talented youngster. Someone should keep her breeding going!

Teddy was an amazing athlete – I met him for the first time when @eventrider had him in Florida for the winter. (Hi Christan!!) I’ve seen some of the other ones that Wynn bred and they are really nice!
