Remission/Quiessence advice needed

The vet advised me to put one of my minis on a supplement with magnesium and chromium (pretty sure it was chromium) because he is a mini, cresty, and trends towards the chubby side. I started him on Remission about a year and a half ago. He does not like it and I got tired of mixing it with applesauce and syringing it into him every night and I was suspicious it might be making him gassy so I switched him from the Remission to Quiessence about eight days ago. Yesterday I thought his crest felt harder and today when I was ground driving him he looked fatter. So I taped him and he has gained about ten pounds since starting the Quiessence. I tape him once a week or so and I did get a weight the day I changed the supp.
Do you think these changes in him are from the change in supplement? Coincidence? Or am I just seeing things??? I am pretty sure it is from the switch, but would like some feedback if anyone out there has experienced something similar.

Minis diet is second cut hay, about 4- 5 pounds and 1/4 cup timothy pellets to mix his vitamins in. Dry lot.
The one positive thing is the Quiessence has calmed him a bit, he is a little fellow with a massive attitude and can be HOT. He seems happier, but I think I should go back to the Remission.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

Give metaborol a try and see if it does a better job:)

$150 a month for a regular size horse? $150 for 2 months for a mini I guess. For…what exactly is this?

OP, what amounts are you giving of each supplement and what are your before/after weight measurements?

I will be honest though, I think you’re jumping the gun here on the new supplement. 10lbs is a very small fluctuation even for a mini. I wouldn’t worry yet. I am a top end of healthy weight for my height woman and my weight can easily fluctuate 3-4lb in a few days. For your mini, 10 lb is a drink of water and a good poop!

Thanks for the answers!
I was giving a maintenance dose of Remission (which I figured as about 1/3 full size horse dose) and with the Quiessence he is getting one generous half scoop. I did not start with a loading dose since he was already on the Remission. Maybe I was wrong in not doing that.
He taped at just a hair under 300 and then just about 310. I will tape him again this afternoon, maybe he WAS full of poop (I KNOW he is full of hot air most of the time!)

I looked into the metaborol, I see it has diatomacious earth in it. He does not do well on products that contain that unfortunately. Seems to upset his digestion.

You could try mixing it with TrIple Crown Senior as it is sticky. For my 14 3 IR mare, I do half dose Remission plus MagRestore. If your horse benefits from magnesium that is bio-available like MagRestore, you’ll see a result.

I taped him yesterday and his weight was back down. He probably WAS “full of it” as lifeishorses suggested .

I have my other mini on Magrestore for the “spookies” and it worked wonders in settling him down. It got him over the “0MG EVERYTHINGS GONNA GET ME and THE SQUIRREL IS GODZILLA” mindset he arrived with. I can’t remember if I tried Peanut on it though. I can give that a go and see what happens.
Putting the Remission in something sticky is a good idea, but I hesitate to do grain because he gets fat so easy.

If I have to go back to mixing up the Remission, I can do it. I was just being lazy.

What vitamins is he getting? Have you looked at d-carb balance by MVP?
