Removable patent tops

Anyone had some made recently? I found a steal of a deal on a brand new pair of Vogels at Manhattan Saddlery and now looking into removable patent tops for them. Would you have Vogel make them? Or Journeyman? Some other company?

Also- another question- am I right in thinking removable tops are the way to go? Or would you just get the tops permanently attached? (Interestingly- costlier to have Vogel install cuffs than make removable ones- $245 vs. $220.) I do have other pairs of dress boots that I can wear when hunting with other hunts and not wearing my colors.

I would have Vogel make & sew them on.

Removable ones can remove themselves mid-hunt and ride up or twist, especially if you hunt hard.

YMMV, however!

I have Dehner boots and they made them for me. The had tabs down the inside of the boot each side with snaps. They never were a problem twisting or removing themselves. It was about 20 years ago that I had them made, but I remember it was very reasonable.

Can these be made for boots with a higher “Spanish” cut? I have some Ariat boots that I’d like to add removable tops to.

Yes, but I don’t find Spanish tops comfortable out hunting. (the whip lash gets caught in them)

Well as a member of the field, my whip is rarely in use. So that shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks all! Maybe I will send them up to Vogel. Was hoping that Journeyman could do a reasonable job- being as they are driving distance from me.
