Removing cat vomit stains from carpet

We use straight baking soda on the vomit area after cleaning up the mess. Let dry and vacuum up. (we have light beige carpets)

Be very careful if you use that baking soda detergent mix. I used it (measured to a T) and it made my carpet permanently crunchy where it was used and it has never felt the same. Doesn’t look too bad or bleached/discolored - just looks stiff and feels gross when you walk on it (thank goodness it is more in the corner and not where I walk most of the time). My carpet is a frieze so maybe that type just doesn’t work well with this solution? I don’t know. Definitely spot test.

To be perfectly honest I don’t think the baking soda should be used in the recipe if it’s just for stain removal. The baking soda is more for odour removal which is why it’s included in the recipe for skunk odour removal.

Maybe if you give your carpet some extra rinses and put down some paper towels and step on them to get the wetness lifted or maybe even put a fabric softener or Nature’s Mircle down then lift it with paper towels it will remove the stiffness?

Oh I have, and yes I know it is for odor removal. My dog became incontinent with age so I used the mix on her favorite spot to lay and unfortunately leak. I spent a lot of time carpet cleaning it and trying to make it better, but after she passed I opted to just replace all of the living room carpet. That worked like a charm
