I ride in an Arab tree Circle Y saddle and I want to remove the horn. I do Ctr and endurance so I really don’t need a horn for anything-sometimes I rest my hands on it but I think it is more of a liability than anything.Just heard from my emergency room nurse that they had a girl that was impaled on one, so I’m eager to get rid of it.I think it is fiberglass so I’m assuming husband would just saw it off?
I’d bring it to a saddle repair shop and have it professionally removed, or at least look into how it is put together for the best way to take it apart. My friend had one removed from her saddle and had a nice piece of matching leather placed over where the horn was and tacked down with a design in it. I too am not a big fan of horns, it depends on how high they sit.
I have had my share of bruises from a horn, mainly from going up steep hills and have twice actually hooked my bra, not a thing I recommend experiencing.
Yes,I have had it hook on my bra and my belt when I’m jumping-my horse did stop even though I was stuck to his neck and pointed in the direction of my barn!

Or a big old concho or name plate where the horn used to be.
I’m looking at Circle Y flex saddles now and can’t find one without a horn. Never thought to just have it removed! Brilliant!
I don’t know why so many trail saddles have horns. For trail riders a horn is more likely to hurt you than it is useful. But so many people like them. Give me a rounded top with a bucking strap and I’m happy.
I like the name plate idea too. hmmm. Wonder how much that would cost.
My husband cut the horn off of my Bob marshall with a hack saw and replaced it with a concho. You’d never know there was ever a horn there!!

yes our daughter has done the same thing… she has put about 10,000 miles on the saddle with no signs of problems
Just be careful with the concho (instead of leather where the horn used to be) as the metal edges can get sharp.
LOL thats so weird I was just wondering today if I could remove a horn, looks like I can!
