Removing Stains from Technical Breeches

I have a pair of light-colored Ariat Tri Factor breeches which I absolutely love, except for saddle stains that won’t come out with simple washing. Does anyone have tricks for removing stains from technical fabrics (nylon/spandex)?

I’ve had luck using a “Blue Dawn”-based stain remover recipe on more traditional fabric breeches, but that doesn’t seem to do much for these.

H’m. If you’ve dried them in the clothes dryer, the stain is already set. If you haven’t, I’ve had pretty good luck getting stains of this sort out with Resolve fabric pre-treatment spray, then washing them using Persil detergent with some Oxy-Clean added. FWIW, I always try to remember not to dry stained items in the dryer, as I think if I don’t get the stain out on the first round, maybe I can figure out something that’ll work the second time around.

Good luck!

Exactly what I do and it works really well.

Spray the stains generously with Resolve. Follow bottle instructions - I believe it recommends to wait 5 min before washing. Once the 5 min is up, in the wash they go for a pre-wash with Persil & Oxy-Clean. Then main wash with just Persil. Hang dry to avoid setting the stain, just in case you need to repeat again.

I NEVER put my breeches in the dryer. Perish the thought!

Oh, I air dry all of my riding / workout clothes … it’s written right on the label! I’ll give Resolve and OxyClean a try. Thanks!

Good ol’ Fels Naptha will remove pretty much anything. Dampen stain and apply straight from the bar of soap.

This works for me, too.

I’ve been using a pre-scrub with Oxyclean, then wash as usual. This got the black billet marks off my brand new white saddle pads this morning so they are sparkling white for our next clinic. This is what my husband uses to get the sweat stains out of his white referee hats too.

Bumping this up. I have these same breeches and have saddle stains on the seat after the first wear . Did you find something that works?
