Removing sticky stuff from a dog belly

Tweek (3 yr male terrier) has some sap or something all over his belly. It does’t just wipe off, and if I use soap it will move, but not willingly come off. It’s not really bothering him but it bothers me that it’s on him.

I weed whacked the back yard on Sunday so I think that I whacked something that made sap or something. I’m in FL.

Thoughts?

Can you just shave the area? Nail polish remover might take it off too.

Vetrolin detangler! I had a couple of fillies get fly strips in their manes and it gets fly glue out of manes, so I would give it a try and then wash it out!

if it is dry and crusty, you might try scraping it off

if it is somewhat soft, try some Dawn dish liquid

If it is really tight to the skin, you may have to wait for a bit of hair grown and then peel it off like waxing.

I would be inclined to use Goo Gone and then rinse well.

alcohol disolves a lot.

absorbine

Takes off everything.

Peanut butter is also good at getting out sticky stuff. Then use Dawn soap to get out the peanut butter.

Thanks everyone. I gave him a bath in cream rinse this evening and that got some of it out. I think I’ll try absorbine.

I called my vet and asked the vet tech whoanswered the phone about it. She said "did you try warm water?

Poor little guy. He’s itching like hell from the pollen too.
