So I posted here after buying my CWD 2G in early 2022 about repairing a stirrup leather keeper. It was going to cost $1125 to fix it through CWD and at the time I didn’t know someone who wasn’t CWD could fix it. Fast forward almost 3 years and I’ve decided to sell it. It became evident that I wasn’t going to be able to sell it without fixing it. In enter my friend Rachel who has The Tack Alchemist in California who knows Scott Foy. I sent my saddle to Scott from Kansas and he fixed it yesterday. If you need any saddle fixed, CWD or not, I highly recommend Scott. Also, it was $40 to have the repair done.
$1125 made me spit out my coffee. Yikes
CWD said that the carbon fiber was compromised so they were going to charge me something stupid like $900 to replace it and then they’d replace the keeper. Scott said that the carbon fiber is fine, it’s just the clear coating that is cracked and reattaching the keeper wasn’t an issue.
If you don’t mind could you please message me his info? I’m trying to sell a 2013 CWD with wear on the flaps and I fear I’m in the same position, no one will touch it unless it is fixed but I can’t replace both flaps just to sell it… I fear I’m stuck with it!

Why did the choose to stick carbon fiber there anyways? Love riding in my CWD but man, do I question some of their choices.
Supposedly when jumping large jumps it prevents the flap from curling. For this AA who primarily jumps 2’6 and below, I never had to worry about that particular feature.
Can you PM me his info too? I need a Devoucoux fixed

Scott is fantastic. He was our go-to out here in SoCal. Luckily for me, he was close to my barn.
Now that I am in NC, we have a wonderful leather repair shop in town that does great work.
We don’t have many repair people nearby (Kansas) and I was going to send my saddle to a consignment shop in Northern California anyway. So I just sent it to Scott first and sent a prepaid label along so Scott could just forward it to her.
Scott is great. He is/was a designated repair person for several of the saddle companies. He can often get something turned around quite fast. We’re lucky to have him down the road.
I am going to chime in as well. Scott was able to fix my CWD Mademoiselle where the carbon had come undone from the tree (Which CWD itself completely missed when I sent the saddle to get new billets in February of this year). Apparently this happens a lot with the 2G/carbon tree models and it creates MUCH more flex in the saddle than is good for the horse.
He was able to fix it no problem and the saddle is once again sound! Skip CWD, send it straight to Scott, lol.
