Replacing tires -- in pairs?

I have a 2009 Kingston 2 horse BP w/ dressing room. Currently has Kenda Karrier Loadstar ST 205/75/R15 tires, one of which has a nice puncture wound. I have the spare on right now, but need to replace the original tire since they were unable to repair it. :frowning:

Do I have to replace trailer tires in pairs, like you would on a car? I’ve searched around and can find the same brand/make/size, but mine say “5 ply” on the sidewall, but I’ve only been able to find 6 ply tires in the same type. Is it considered sacrilegious to have two 5 ply tires and two 6 ply tires on the same trailer?

Paging Tom King…

Any reason you can’t just use the spare, and put your new “oddball” tire as your new spare? Although if your other tires have significant wear, I would replace in pairs.

Many on here will tell you if your tires are over 5 years old, you should replace all of them. As for me, my first set of trailer tires were 10 years old when I replaced them.
