replacing trailer fender on 2 horse aluminum? DIY?

So I dented the fender of my 2013 Sundowner trailer. It appears I can order a new fender for $130. My husband is sort of handy. Has anyone replaced one of these? I’ve called around a body shop said they would do it, but they also said it may just screw on and maybe my husband could do it.

I’m worried there may be more to this than simply screwing in on. Advice? Experiences?

You’d have to look at how its attached. If its aluminum and it needs any type of welding, then you need a special type of welder.

My bumper came off due to a blown tire…it was taken to an Exiss dealer and a new bumper was welded on…so now my no name aluminum trailer has an exiss bumper on it :stuck_out_tongue:

You might as well order the part and look at it. I’d expect it to be welded on, so you’d want a welder good with aluminium to do it. A welding or metal fabrication shop might be a better bet than a body shop.

If it’s bolted or riveted on it’s a pretty easy DIY job, but going to your repairer with the part in hand is never a bad thing anyway.

If there is a rubber trim or sealing strip in the gap between the fender and the trailer wall get a fresh one of those too. The old one is likely brittle with age.
