An individual in Fayetteville submitted a request through the rescue I work with for help in finding a good trainer in or around Fayetteville. They have a Boston who is aggressive towards other dogs and also gets too rowdy with the family’s children when they are playing rough or loudly with each other. Does anyone know of a good trainer or behaviorist in that area they could talk with? We don’t have any volunteers familiar with that area. They really want to keep the dog so we’re trying to help however we can. Thanks for any tips or leads!
Sorry, I don’t know of an animal behaviorist in that immediate area, the closest one I know of is Dr. Barbara Sherman, at the vet school in Raleigh, which really isn’t too far, might be worth a consultation. She is very good.
As far as a training facility, there is an excellent one in Sanford, the Bon-Clyde Learning Center:

I’ve taken classes and seminars there, travelling an hour and a half each way.
Thank you for the info!

Bon Clyde is good…I took my jrt there when she was a pup…Sanford is my hometown.
But if she was mine I would check into Tarheel Canine in Sanford first. My brother took his first GSD there for boot camp for a few weeks when she was about 4 months old. She had some very concerning behavior and they were fantastic with her.
On a side note…I’m a huge new fan of Boston terrier rescue. Not sure if you’re in the same one but they just pulled a 10 year old BT from Guilford co shelter last week. So if you’re the same THANK YOU!!! And if not thank you anyway…rescue is tough…but worth it.
Good luck to this family…and bless them for not giving up.
Thank you, Amelia! I’ll let them know about Tarheel Canine also. I hope they can find someone to help them.
And I know of the Guilford County BT that you speak of. We were alerted about him (was it you?) and when we checked on him, we were happy to find that he was being pulled by another BT rescue group I really hate it when people dump their old dogs! Makes me so angry!
