I wonder if she is still paying the people she flew in to Sacramento to show for her…I haven’t noticed her horses in the results since. I was quite surprised such a well known handler would defend her.

I am not familiar with US law, but can people who get money - like to foodstore - go to something like small claims court get and order and than someone from the authorities goes to the property and takes whatever can make the bill ?
e.g. taking that horse that is showing under her name so it is officially hers and could be compensation ?
We have that kind of thing here in Germany: you do not get paid, you go to a court (not very expansive !!!). If you can prove everything you get a piece of paper that your are an official debtee - (my translator homepage says: title). Than you can go with that to an official person - (Bailiff ?). You can point out assets that you know belong to that person or the bailiff goes to the property, appartment and “just” takes something. That gets auctioned of and the debtee gets paid.
There is a similar process in U.S. in most states. You can go to “small claims court” or a higher court. If you prove your case, you get a “judgment” for the amount of damages or, in case of a contested ownership, you get a “declaration” from the court that the item is owned by you.
30 days after getting the declaration or judgment, you can “execute” on it. 30 days is required so that the defendant has time to file an appeal. More on that later.
If no appeal is filed, then you apply to the court for a “writ of execution” in case of a judgment for damages. The writ is served by taking a court official (usually a constable) with you to the defendant’s premises and demanding payment. If not paid, then constable begins seizing items owned by the defendant and that are not exempt by law from seizure. Those can then be sold at auction to satisfy the judgement.
If you have a declaration of ownership, you’d apply to the court to get a “writ of replevin” with which you would go with a court official to take possession of the property that had been wrongly withheld from you.
There are times when you could get the property before the case is even finished to a judgment but usually the court leaves the property where it is until decision is reached.
If defendant files appeal within 30 days it can drag out for a year or more longer…
This is not an easy, simple or inexpensive process and the crooks know it.

As a total outsider, I went to the Gray Fox Farm website and have to say that I would be fooled into at least considering doing business based on the nice horses there. I would hope that I would uncover the true story when investigating further, but it is scary how a nice website can cover up something this unsavory.
Good luck to the OP - maybe get a sheriff’s order to help you go reposess the filly?

Yes, you can go to small claims court (John French and others did this). You can get a judgement against her that says she has to pay (this happened). If she doesn’t pay (she didn’t) there will be a warrant issued for her arrest (there is a warrant) but I guess the police are too busy to pick her up for a small claims court warrant. Let’s hope she doesn’t get pulled over with a tail light out or anything like that.
She also has outstanding warrants for bouncing checks in several other states - VA for sure and I believe FL too.

I have heard a story few years back on a lawsuit - she has had enough time to streigthen out things. Just recently on this forum someone had to figure out how to get her horse back from the unpaid shipper… What was up with John French maybe his is the case I heard about years back.

I sincerely hope that GFF would be able to pull through and set things right. But in order to do that she would actually have to start setting things right! She is still digging her hole deeper instead of filling it in. :no: Someone like JB who has a problem needs to be able to admit first that there is a problem, and this is something JB is in total denial about. She is NOT looking to set things right with anyone at this time, so I don’t see her getting all her ducks in a row anytime soon.
Roy Parker, How do you KNOW what is fact and what is lies? Unless you are JB? I would think the only people that actually know fact from made up crap would be JB and the clients she has ripped off. There are enough people with the same stories that lead me to believe JB is the one making the crap up.

If you are willing and able please post on Facebook as your status or a wall photo a picture of “Raven Ridge” and use a caption to alert the masses of the hunter world that this filly is STOLEN. I will give a reward to the individual who is able to get the filly out of Jill Burnell’s hands.
