Respiratory Issues and wind

Do any of your horses with respiratory issues have trouble in the wind? I noticed mine becomes “panicked.” Yesterday was his first day on allergy meds and I noticed he was much calmer in the wind.

Could it be because the wind is stirring up things that make it harder for your horse to breath?

Wind will carry pollen, dust, etc.

I haven’t noticed the wind, but my guy has allergies to dust, I believe (it seems to correspond to when the farming fields surrounding the property are being worked). I put him on SmartPak’s Smart Breathe Ultra pellets and his runny nose, sneezing, etc. symptoms have been GREATLY reduced. It definitely helps him.

Yes, although not to a panicked state. Usually it’s because it is more dusty when windy.
