Retirement barns suggestions, thanks in advance!

We are in the process of acquiring a large property in Ocala and beginning a retirement operation specifically geared towards former show horses. I come from an A-circuit show background and feel like there are people, like myself, who want to ensure their former performance horse’s care in their older age. But, recognize a horse that is used to a professional program may not adapt or even enjoy being “just turned out” in a group pasture. Plus, want to find a more “affordable” option to keeping their horse on training board. As a New Englander, I know it’s very hard to find a facility with ample turn-out/pasture!

We are proposing a retirement option with a show quality facility - a stall option, large pastures with custom turn-out option (some horses prefer buddies, some don’t!), run-ins in all of the paddocks, supplements, grooming, special care management, night time turn-out during the summer. Do you think that there is a demand for this type of facility? I’d be very interested in hearing your feedback…

YES, YES, YES! Ocala is a great idea because the owners can visit if they’re showing at HITS.

When can I send my boy down? (Just kidding…he’s retired, but only 11 and I would miss him too much. But 10 years from now, we BOTH might be ready to retire to Florida!)

Otter – That’s exactly what I’m thinking - owners would like the option to be able to come visit their retirees while they are in town showing! Thanks for the encouragement.
