Reusable dressage numbers

I’m entered in an event that is going to require everyone to bring their own reusable dressage numbers. I don’t have one yet, so I will need to buy one between now and then (or if all else fails, I guess a Sharpie and the back of an old cardboard dressage number will work in a pinch!)

Most of the ones I’m seeing for sale look kind of bulky and seem to attach along the length of a strap rather than clipping to the end of the browband, which to me looks like they might slide around, especially if they are heavier than the old cardboard ones. Do any of you use the reusable numbers for dressage? Do they stay put well without being too bulky or heavy? Do you have a favorite style that seems to work better than the others (as I’ve seen a few different ones out there just looking at a few of the bigger websites)? Or should I just bring an old number and a Sharpie?

Thanks in advance!

We used these in NZ:

I attached it around the browband loop and/or the cheek piece buckle.

I got a set years ago from Smart Pak.

It attached with two elastic loops. On my fat headed QH it was just the right size. Attach over / at the bowband and cheekpiece cross.

I could also attach to the saddle pad with the addition of two safety pins and some strategic tape placement.

Sharpie!!! hahaha. I don’t do bulky. I also have a million old bridle numbers.

I’ve been known to fancy it up by printing numbers and taping them to a pre-loved bridle number. Looks better than the sharpie but remains in my preferred bridle number price range.

Requiring reusable dressage numbers? Is this going to become a trend like the pinny holders??

If it lowers the cost for the organizers, I think it would be great to get rid of bridle numbers. I use white electrical tape and a sharpie on the halters already and would gladly spend $10 on a reusable number. Or we could just use our pinnies for dressage.

This is the one I have. Not bulky at all and looks so much better than the ones that have been provided to me at the event - I usually just hand those ones back in.

These are the ones I have: http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Equestrian-Competition-Number-Holder/dp/B00FF1X6SM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1441330382&sr=8-2&keywords=bridle+number

They’re pricy, but really nice. They have a hook on the back that goes through the browband loop, similar to the numbers that are usually handed out by the organizer, and a strap and snap that goes around the cheekpiece to keep it from coming off.

Here in Australia we have to provide our own numbers for everything except the Cross Country. We tend to use saddle numbers (which must be OK because I have never been told that it actually has to be on the bridle) as a couple of our horses hate stuff on the bridle.

I like the saddle numbers . . . they are larger and I put them on both sides so the pencillers can see who they are!

The one with elastic work well. I have a set because sometimes the numbers grow legs. I also have a bag of old bridle tags for that situation as well.

Requiring reusable dressage numbers? Is this going to become a trend like the pinny holders??[/QUOTE] As long as most events are requiring pinny holders, I think we should wear them for dressage. Next year when lower levels don’t have to wear coats, the pinnies would make wearing white shirts less revealing. (Why can’t I find any light colored, non-white, polo shirts in preparation for next year? Off to check out L.L. Bean…)
