Hello all, joined this forums in hopes of finding reviews on DeNiro boots however the search function is bringing up threads on everything except the actual boots. I am looking at ordering a pair from Equiport in the UK that carries some of their more budget friendly models. I am wondering if anybody has experience with their lower end boots in regards to longevity? This is the boot I am looking at: https://www.equiport.co.uk/products/riding-wear/horse-riding-boots/salentino-lucidi-brown-riding-boots-dn26/
I have a pair of the semi-custom Deniro Salento Field boots that I ordered from Smart Pak. I love them. I would compare my field boots to Sergio Grasso. Definitely the leather quality that you would expect in a custom book. Mine are now six years old. Other than having the zipper replaced a few times, the boots are in excellent condition. I’ll order another pair.
I believe mine are a step below those, but above the lowest end Equiport carries, and I’ve had them a year and a half so far. They’re worn for 1-6 rides per week, and I do not take very good care of them. The inside of the calves wore smooth very quickly, but have held up otherwise. The pebbly leather ones do run wider than the smooth, and the footbed isn’t great, but isn’t horrible either.
It looks like they only offer the pebbled leather in that price range. My aim is to stay under $500 including shipping, which is $70. I am learning that $500 is not much of a budget when it comes to looking at boots and needing a large calf size. What about the foot bed didn’t you like?
I have been hearing that zipper quality in some of these higher end boots is terrible. Seems strange that they would make a nice boot but use terrible zippers.
I have 2 pairs of DeNiros and my mom has 2 as well. I love them and have had no issues with the zippers falling apart. I’ve struggled to keep my zippers UP, but I suspect that’s more to do with my conformation and riding style than a reflection of the quality of the boots.
A number of friends purchased the S3312 model and had to replace the zippers within two years of purchase. These are juniors and amateurs who ride one horse 5-6 days a week. The Salentinos sure are pretty, but they look to be just a step above that model.
What size do you need? If the sizing works for you, and you like that embellished top, you may like the Ariat Volant S. I’m convinced I’ll still be wearing mine come the apocalypse.
I think you just convinced me to buy the Ariat Volant S boots
I have had mine for going on 7 years. I have used them and abused them and they look great. I love them.
I have the DiNiro TriColore. Love them. I believe they do come in a smooth leather but it’s harder to find. All in all, I don’t see a substantial (or really any) difference in the quality between them and the first line. No issues with the zipper, didn’t require any break in. Very comfy to walk in, as I discovered when I dismounted an unruly horse and lead it a mile back to the barn.
FWIW, I’m what most people consider petite and small boned. I’m athletic, but not power lifter muscular. The vast majority of boot companies consider me huge, apparently. I take a wide in basically every boot but Koenig, in which I take a narrow. (Go figure.) The DiNiro TriColore were the cheapest boots I could find that fit. The sales people at our local Dover Saddlery probably hate my guts. Every time me or my daughter try on boots in there I’m baffled at who the heck can wear all these crazy narrow calves. My arm doesn’t even fit in them! “Oh, lots of people!” they exclaim. Who? Show me one person who does. Whenever someone is trying on boots there, they’re always too narrow and the sales person is red faced and sweaty trying to stuff the customer into boots and zip them up.
I also snatched up a pair of the DeNiro triColore on clearance from a local tack shop for schooling boots. I wear them 5 days a week (1 horse) and they are holding up great so far. Also agree that the footbed is comfortable and I’ve been pleased!
I am running into the same problem, and am also wondering who they are making these boots for. Teenagers maybe? Does Koenig make jumping boots? I thought they were strictly a dressage boot company. They are likely out of my price range anyway.
They have a few regular dress boots. The consignment shop near me got a few used pairs of Koenig in and I swear that one of them was a field boot.
I imagine they’d make anything you wanted custom. Very $$$$$ but really nice. The pairs at the consignment shop catch your eye immediately. Even out of a sea of black boots.
I bought some
Boots for riding at home
from the parlanti outlet site. I ended up w the buffalo leather ones. I think they call them Ocala style but not 100%. I had to go up a width from the parlanti normal
sizes (i show in the Denver dress boot). These at home boots have held up extremely well and I ride 3-5 horses 5-6 days a week. They were $400 I think. Pretty enough to show in. They have a stretch panel beside the zipper and in front. Hold up better than my show ones and fit is awesome. Snug as a bug.
Tucci also has a shelf boot- EG07 . Very nice leather, I know riders who use it as a show boot. I use mine for everyday riding. Beautiful boot. Holds up well, fits well and you can get a more customized feel with the ability to add or take away height. Also no break in time.
they are around $499 but if you wait you can find them for around $399 during holiday sales.
I have a retired pair of Koenig field boots I bought a while back- 2001, I think? Not sure if they still make them but at least used ones are out there…
I have a pair of the off the rack DeNoro’s that I’ve had for 6 years. I did have to replace the zipper after about 3, but they’ve held up really well.
Looks like Koenig does make a field boot, but they start at $1200. WAY out of budget sadly.
