I have MANY barn cats, and can get topical parasite treatment on most of them…but ear mites are making many miserable, and typical drops are NOT an option. I see that Revolution covers ear mites as well…but SO expensive. I do recall at one point hearing about using the larger volume doses (I assume for the large dogs ) and dosing with un-needled syringe onto cats as being a much more economical way to do a volume of cats.
anyone else know about this?
We’ve use Revolution very successfully for years against fleas, ear mites and mange. I’ve never had an adverse reaction. The best price I’ve found is 1800petmeds with free shipping and the code FleaTen or Flea10, not sure exact, for 10% discount. You would have to get a vet to OK the order when they call them. I should think that for someone taking care of a bunch of barn cats so well, that your vet might do that for you. I have heard of someone getting it from Australia for cheaper but I don’t know the details. So good of you to give them such great care.
It is absolutely possible to use the Large dog Revolution and split it into multiple doses for cats. I’m not positive on the exact amount though. I worked at a veterinary hospital a few years ago and one of the vets there volunteered at a spay/neuter clinic once a week and did that exact thing, to help with cost. Hopefully someone else will be able to help with the amount!

Revolution works great on my barn cats !
I highly recommend it ! [/B]
THANKS!!..I wasn’t sure if my memory was correct or not…
i’ll check with my vet about getting some, and the correct dosage!..and my cats thank you,.,too!
The cat rescue that I used to volunteer with did that regularly.
My small animal vet actually suggested this to me. We have been using if effectively for the last couple of years.
Another Thumbs Up for Revolution!
In 9yrs of barncatdom I have yet to see any sign of flea, tick or earmite. :encouragement:
If it saves $$, syringing on the correct dose s/b a good solution for multi-cats.
My parents have five barn cats who are strictly outdoor (well, 4.5–one gets Revolution but hasn’t been to the vet for anything-he’s a scruffy old tom that we “are not encouraging” for three years now-he has his own bowl now, he’s very amiable, probably they’ll cave on him, too-none of the cats were deliberately acquired, they all just showed up one way or another) and all get Revolution. Except for the beat-up tom who’s chronically scruffy, you’d never guess they were outdoor cats. Not a flea or mite or tick in sight. It’s expensive, but it keeps the healthy. After last fall’s flea fiasco (the dogs picked some up and the Frontline generic didn’t do a thing) the dogs are going to be getting Revolution this year.
I will check in that at work! I use the large dog Frontline on my cats…between indoor and outdoor I have 9. I use an insulin syringe with needle off and the dose is 0.5 ml. With the syringe it is a bit easier to sneak up on them. I have a coworker who is much better at figuring out the doses for this stuff.
