Rhode Island Stables???

Hubby is interviewing for a job in Rhode Island. I am not even sure which city the job is in yet… but still wondering about the eventing/dressage scene?
Anyone?

Hopefully it’s somewhere close to CT or MA. I don’t think there’s much of anything in RI for eventing. I’m not sure about dressage. If you’re lower level, you’ll love Area 1. We even have a schooling show championship series now. They really cater to the lower levels. Tons of shows in CT, MA, NH & VT.

I spent 9 months in Newport, RI 15 years ago. The boarding/eventing scene within a reasonable distance was dismal.

I live 10 mins from the RI border. There are lots of options. In Rehoboth, MA (where I live) there is Palmer River and Flatlands. In Millis, MA, there is Apple Knoll. About an hour north of us is Scarlett Hill. About an hour east of us is Valinor. Azrael Acres is about 30 mins away In RI, there is Canterbury in Wakefield (I have no experience with them). There are several eventing barns on the CT border as well. There is really a fair amount. Look on the link I posted.

Thank you all!

We have a very active eventing barn in Rehoboth - about 15 minutes outside of Providence. My husband is a USEA ICP certified instructor and we have students competing from the introductory level of the sport thru Intermediate attending both USEA and schooling events. Links below to our website (not very current) and barn FB page (more current). Email us at FlatlandsEventing@gmail.com for more info or to be put on our barn email list!

Forgot to add. If you come to town and want to see the area, shoot me a PM.

I kept my horse at Canterbury for the time I spent there. I chose it because it had decent turnout, even though there were quite a lot of horses turned out in about a 4 acre field together. It was acceptable, but given better options, I would not have chosen it. It was more of a lesson barn where all boarders were students of/under the control of the owner/instructor, so it wasn’t really a good fit for me as an independent eventer. Or maybe the better way of saying it was that I just wasn’t a good fit for her. That was 15 years ago, so maybe things have changed.
