Rhodiamant stallions in the US -- who are they?
Routinier!! That was the one I was trying to think of. Actually he’s about the only Rohdiamant son I’ve ever seen with a less-than-attractive head. Because Roh. has the AA blood, his head was quite refined.
If memory serves me correctly, Routinier is double AA with Inschallah top and bottom. IMO, you see that head in other Inschallah offspring as well…perhaps not the immediate siblings, but in the grandchildren of Inschallah, for example, Ideal offspring can throw the same head as Routiner. The heads are large, even a bit roman-nosed…but, as my husband would point out not unattractive. I love Inschallah in pedigrees, and have a granddaughter that I plan to breed for the first time in 2014. I haven’t decided whom to breed to but, I’m looking for a lighter type with more power.

Interesting!

I bred to Ideal using a TB mare with just a “normal” head and got a baby (now 14yrs old) w/ a fine head…not bad at all.

SUPER athletic, confident animal that developed into a winning jumper(per his owner he could have been a top eventer, but she didn’t want to go there) and is still packing kids around the jumper ring.

I used to visit Ideal’s website alot and never saw many “large headed” get, but then it could be the owners just didn’t post pics of them…

He was a nice stallion (Ideal) considering the quality of mares he got back then wasn’t particularly high.

I like AA’s ALOT and also like to see Inschallah or Ramzes in at pedigree. Harder and harder to find…

Yes, Routinier is double Inschallah. I have a Routinier gelding out of a Lancaster mare… I would agree that he is a bit roman nosed (and so are two others that I have seen) but I don’t think his head is unattractive. He does have a beautiful eye imo.

Thank you DY! I LOVE the R line and have a Rubinstein granddaughter and her daughter, who has Rubinstein x2. But neither have the big, showy, “money trot” that is so popular these days. My understanding is the big advantage/plus of the R line is their intelligence, willingness to work, and (in general) an athletic ability over all.

They are very trainable, IOW. But they do NOT have naturally fancy trots…and I think maybe that is contributing to their (what I perceive) as their fading popularity.
Though with people like Carl Hester (in his Master Class at Equitana this month) saying that the last thing he looked at for a potential GP horse was a big spider trot, you could imagine that AAs will start realising that trainability will hold them to better advantage than a big trot.

Royal Diamond. Wonderful stallion who was less favored simply because he was gray. I believe he is still alive in Germany.
He’s the sire of a stallion I saw in the UK (at Burghley stallion show) named Royaldik. I liked him quite a bit. He will supposedly be available in the US this year. Not idea if his frozen is good but I spoke with one breeder in the UK who had used it with success. Course that doesn’t help the OP looking for fresh options!

Lgfsporthorses has Ruffian frozen semen available.
