Rich Fellers

No my point was that SS has no authority outside of USEF membership/ rated shows but there is still rampant abuse in the whole industry so while SS is a step in the right direction, we still have huge problems.

No, I’m not saying that, I’m just saying there’s plenty of trainer abuse outside of USEF/ rated shows and even unrated shows all together.

i am pretty darned amazed at some of the posters here who know SO MUCH inside information about who did what to whom etc and I have to ask.

Did you take all your amazing information and actually step up and call authorities or SS or in some way …

Did you do something to step up and help these young women or did you just save it all so you could be so cool and in the know here.

this is all tragic, young women were taken advantage of and now names are being dragged around and speculation and accusations was freely flowing. You must feel so cool to be in the know

shame on you

The mods have stepped in and scrubbed the thread in the last 24 hours to ensure it complies with their posting policies.

It is very true… young women have been taken advantage of… another way of saying it is preyed upon. It is VERY sad. I’m sure there are many rumors and accusations swirling… but some of that is due to certain people’s longstanding, pre-existing, personal reputation issues. That information has been discussed far and wide for a while (years) on many different discussion threads. If rumors and speculation are swirling again now… I think it’s unfair to say it’s due to anything mentioned on this particular thread.

Excuse me? Are you accusing me of something or making a general statement?
The things I know are from my own experience. And yes, I reported to both SafeSport and the USEF.

I think a lot of it has been scrubbed but Oreo Moms is still at the top of this thread. Facebook was far worse, of course. So awful. Thankfully it sounds like Maggie has a strong support system.

Oreo Mom. Enough said.

I’m really glad Maggie has a strong support system. I wish I saw more upper level riders expressing support though. So far, the most unequivocal, sincere and straightforward words I’ve seen from an upper level person about this situation have come from Kristin Medall Simpson-Ferguson Hardin. She continues to be a voice worth noting. But it’s sad more aren’t willing to stand up and speak out as well. It actually does matter. People are noticing the silence on the part of many.

But on a lighter note… as for Oreo Mom… there were some rather humorous and clever puns directed at her earlier in the thread. There are some very witty and creative people who post regularly on these forums… and I salute them

Richard Fellers will be arraigned on July 6th, at 8:30 AM. Before he was arrested, Maggie Kehring requested a Sexual Assault Protection Order against him, which was granted shortly before he was arrested and served on him at the time of his arrest.

That speaks volumes.

A quick google search reveals the circumstances and requirements that must be met to obtain a SAPO in Oregon.

The FB commenting has mostly quieted down given the arrest, and many of the prior comments people made back in February defending Fellers and questioning Maggie’s motives have magically disappeared. But there are still a few hold outs commenting here and there, including on the Practical Horseman article about, talking about there being 2 sides to a story, wanting to wait for more details or other information to come out before passing any judgement, making vague statements about the age of consent, etc etc. I hope they take the time to actually look at what is required in Oregon for a SAPO to be granted in a case like this… and then ask themselves if they really do think it’s still reasonable to make public comments in an effort to minimize/obfuscate concerning anything that the victim in this case possibly went through…

I’d be really surprised if he got anything close to that. 61, first time offender. With a good enough lawyer he could get just probation.

RF is squeaky clean in the state of Oregon, but the trial will probably be a long time away due to the constipated courts, so any additional victims discovered by the multi-state investigation will lead to greater punishment, especially if they were abused in Oregon.

All over FB he’s being defended. One particular commenter claims the victim has entrapped Rich and she’s a spoiled entitled brat. So there are def supporters there spewing their garbage.

There are really never two sides to any story involving adults having sex with children.

I’m so sad that this has to be said, but thank you for repeating it.

SF is backing that narrative, though she has not yet presented any evidence to Safesport that supports any innocence on the part of her and her husband. Her time to appeal and present evidence will end next month, so she has to make some sort of effort to counter the ruling of Safesport and I don’t think she has any to present, given that her husband was taken into custody and has a protective order against him.

I am making a general statement too many people talk about events and situations where you wonder where the support system was. Were parents alerted. Authorities. Officials. ?? I will leave to each person to decide were their truth sits

Is he still in custody? Will he stay in custody until the arraignment?

Again, glossing over that the person ultimately responsible is the adult who sexually assaults the child.

We don’t need to scapegoat anyone else. We can hold those who actively facilitate responsible, though.

Don’t rape children. Or anyone.

Only you can stop you from sexually assaulting people.
