Rich Fellers

10/11/2022 Trial - Twelve Person Jury

Hearing Time
9:00 AM

On March 14 the trial date was reset to October 11, 2022. You can search for the case and get the docket information on the Oregon Judicial Department online record search https://webportal.courts.oregon.gov/portal/. I had to type in “Richard” and not just use “Rich” for this offense to show up.

Is he out on bail in the meantime?

I did it again! Looked and viewed the dates as 11/10/22 reading November 10, 2022. :frowning:

unbelievable this get dragged out so long for the victim. I hope she gets her day in court!

If you look at news articles from last year, it notes he posted bail.

The state courts in Oregon are waaaaaaaay behind. Criminal cases have been getting priority over civil cases, but COVID pushed things a lot and then a ruling by the Supreme Court that made hundreds of cases need to be retried. But I agree–it’s a long set over.

Some people love nothing more than stirring up drama for people they don’t even know.
This forum ought to be called the national horse enquirer

For the life of me, I don’t understand why people dreg up topics that have been dead for 6 months? Now people who missed it first time around get a chance to read it.

Some people are opposed to predators being a part of the sport and would like to see them weeded out. What do you have against that?

WOW. A new member targeted me; a PNW lifetime rider stirring up drama wherever she goes.

I would like to thank the academy.

As a retired public defender, I can promise you, delay, delay, delay is sometimes the only way to deal with a client who has few if any defenses to a charge and won’t accept (or can’t accept) a plea offer. Mr. Fellers is facing SO registration and I doubt if any offer Oregon made is acceptable to him. So it’s trial and one tool is continuance. It’s not ethical if it’s used solely to avoid trial but given the state of Oregon’s court system, it’s to be expected that the court will grant a continuance. It is also possible that the Court itself ordered a continuance based on court congestion. Mr. Fellers is out of custody, he can wait. There are people in jail who are presumed to be innocent who can’t wait.

Says the person who just revived a thread that has been dormant for 7 months. Not using the little grey cells, are we?

Excellent Poirot reference. I am appalled at all the reactions. No one wants to think their friends, family or mentors are capable of such horrific things but at the end of the day those comments aren’t for public consumption.

One would think the arrest would be enough but clearly it’s not.

I think most women, and now many men, know that if you do not keep the issues of sexual assault and harassments front and focused, they tend to slip out the back door, easily forgotten.

Witness the horrible backlog of DNA kits from years of assault cases, Certainly not a priority

Keeping quiet is not an option

defendants can stall and prevaricate while the victims awaken every day and are forced to live with the memory

The irony of someone coming here now, to complain about a discussion that was last addressed 7 months ago, is just too much.

@RidinginRhodeIsland, there is a thread titled “People Attempting to Undermine Safe Sport” that you could have a look at. There have been discussions there recently.

But that thread isn’t about this one person. And honestly I read this thread because they bumped it up.

I’m sure that the thread bump is the reason why any of us looked at it, thus the irony.

Maybe because the court system runs slowly and there’s an update?

So why would someone who objects to any discussion of the subject, bring it front and center after months of quiet?

Trial doesn’t begin until December.

That’s a bit rich, innit?
