This article from Horse and Hound has a quote from Maggie Kehring’s lawyer stating that she was not the one who originally brought the complaint to SafeSport. But I’m sure that won’t stop the victim blaming by certain posters. Kudos to the people who reported their concerns.

‘Maggie’s lawyer Russ Prince said: “This investigation started because of the legitimate concern shown by other members of [US Equestrian (USEF)] for Ms Kehring’s wellbeing. The investigation has been conducted over the last six or so months and Ms Kehring has only recently spoken with the US Center for SafeSport,” he said.

One possibility is that she is completely deficient in empathy. Another (not necessarily unrelated) is that she just gets joy out of riling people up on the internet.

From what I’ve seen I’d guess you are correct on both points.

Thanks for sharing. It’s interesting that the initial complainant was a third party. It’s also very heartening that people are taking SafeSport seriously and speaking up when they see something wrong happening. I’m glad Ms. Kehring was able to get out of that situation and I commend her for her bravery in speaking publicly.

We’ve got a guy who is a trainer in this area who generally just does the unrated shows. Since he first began, decades ago, he is the nastiest, most vicious individual ever. Screaming in the warm ups and yelling when they are in the ring. He runs a large barn, and people seem to keep going there. That’s the kind of guy that I’d like to see SS get, but that is not gonna happen.
