Hi all. Just double checking but they are approved at all events except fei stuff right? Thanks
Yes, all USEA events.
Yep. Although I’ve found that not all ring stewards are familiar with them.
Are any of the other ID bands approved? If you Google, there are RoadID, Goneforarun, IdMeBand, etc. They look similar, can be 50% less or more. Some have the online med account info, some just have your name, emergency contact, medical allergies, etc. Or do you have to have RideID only?
No, the other brands are fine – you need to have either the online or all information on the bracelet. I’ve had road id for years and highly recommend them.
Hmm…just found this about which bracelets are USEA legal:
That means in order to be legal, your bracelet must be linked to an online medical form ANDdisplay the necessary information for emergency personnel to access that form.
Read the rulebook. It has been updated since the rule first went into effect.
EV113.3: If wearing a medical bracelet, any relevant medical
history, injury (particularly to the head) drug allergies and current medication must be included in the online medical form of the bracelet’s vendor website or integrally in the bracelet.
Sorry to hijack, then which bracelet is the most cost efficient for the rider who shows just a few times a year?

totally understand the convenience of a bracelet. I know that the few EMR’s that I’ve spoken with prefer the armband but I understand sometimes it is more comfortable to wear the bracelet. I hope someone can tell you which is the lowest cost.

Agreed. Lusoluv, they found out quickly that a lot of events were remote with no signal so they changed the rule.
Well, it does make sense to have the info instantly available ON THE BAND, rather than an EMT having to call an 800# or try to get internet access! That would also imply a less expensive bracelet without the yearly subscriptions to a site that stores the rider’s medical info.
I actually think it’s a good idea to have both, since you can update the online version for free vs. replacing the plate/ bracelet , and also include more information for example, mine has the names and contact numbers of my horses’ owners, insurance/ vet information etc. in addition to my medical info. One less thing for my parents to deal with if I have a bad fall.
Here’s a link for $5 off RoadID for new customers, if that helps anyone.

Another vote for Road ID. Love mine, wear it pretty much 24/7 (I run and live in a pretty isolated area in addition to riding alone a lot). I have the interactive one for reasons listed above- like being able to change the info/update contacts online- the stuff they would need ASAP- DH’s phone number, organ donor status, blood type- are on the wristband itself, but back up phone numbers, etc are available remotely. For the cost conscious, they almost always have a free shipping deal or discount code available if you google.
My trainer has a really neat customized one made of braided cord. I asked her where she got it and she said a lot of tack shops can order them. I am going to get more detailed information from her. Although the clasp was not very user friendly–she needed my help to put it on.
I love my road ID. They are not expensive at the basic level, and you have room for several phone numbers and a couple of lines of medical info. Very comfy and I wear it hacking out as well as xc.
Another for RoadID here. I wear mine while riding my horse and my motorcycle. Have had it over a year now and no issues at all.
Thanks for everyone’s input. I ordered a RoadID original bracelet this morning. Now that the USEA rule was updated to “online health info OR integrated on the bracelet”, I got the basic bracelet (no yearly online subscr) for $20 - $5 coupon code. So it was very inexpensive.
COTHers do it again! Thanks all
I also like RoadID and wear mine even when not riding. It’s sort of a reminder of everything that’s important to me so that my day job doesn’t drive me batty!

That would be a Tagg Code bracelet, which is also what I wear. I’ve had all of the different models but the Survival Band (paracord braid) is my favorite. I wear it 24/7 and have an extra plate I had made engraved with my most important info braided into it too. I only take it off to clean it, so the clasp isn’t a huge deal. I have someone help me or I’ve actually managed to get pretty good at doing it myself. I like that the owners of the company are eventers (and local to me) and have worked with the local EMTs in the area that service our events in developing the product. Plus, there is no annual fee for maintaining your information on the website and they have some other cool uses for the QR codes (you can load your hunting and fishing licenses on them, etc.)
Love my RoadID!
