Rider fashion: Uh-uh. Not doing it

I’ll be DANGED if I’m going to buy breeches with the manufacturer’s name emblazoned anywhere, and particularly across the thigh.

Thanks for listening.

Yeah, if someone wants me to advertise for them, they can pay me or provide free stuff!

I have the most lovely pair of fleece lined winter riding tights that fit beautifully and do a grand job, but I seethe every time I put them on because they are branded with “Horse Rider” down the leg.
Strikes me as absolutely absurd, what in the name of the sweet baby Jesus would I be wearing a pair of sticky bum riding tights for if not riding??!!
Ooh look at me I’m a horse rider, see it says so……argh!!! :woman_facepalming:

@Hightale, think of how bad tattoos are camouflaged and turned into a different image. Do you have embroidery skills? Tee hee hee.

No lol!
It’s not subtle that’s for sure

will not and never have bought Nike items, none as their logo is present predominantly

I was thinking this was a thread about “not keeping up with the Joneses”. I don’t follow current fashion. I don’t do the matchy-matchy thing. I have enough other things to worry about, buying the most recent (read: expensive) clothes is NOT something I worry about. I agree that being a walking billboard is even lower on my selection of clothes.
P.S. - I’m 5’10" with a 33" inseam and long arms, so finding anything that fits is hard enough. I’m just happy to find anything where my ankles and wrists don’t stick out.

I am in sales for apparel decorating machines. Heat put that logo on, and heat can take that logo off.

If you want to try, get an iron really hot and carefully lay it on the letters, it should peel right off. Or even a hand held seamer. Just becareful. You may want to put a folded up towel down the leg to protect the material.

Its hard to see if it is vinyl or some sort of transfer from the photo and not seeing it in person. It will fall off eventually. The technology is not quite 100% for stretchy, synthetic materials.

@MunchingonHay, you absolute genius. Just be sure to test the heat first all the way at the bottom of the pants. Synthetics can’t handle a hot iron the way cotton can. If the fabric stands up, then move to the letters — but don’t put the iron directly on the letters, because they’ll melt and gum up your iron terribly. A piece of muslin would come in handy.

A simple piece of parchment paper between the letters and the iron will be fine.

I get this complaint all the time “my art work/ logos are coming off after I heat pressed them on” ‘Did you put it in the dryer on high after you washed the shirt in hot water??’ The answer is always yes.

Heat puts these on, heat takes them off.

Depending on what method was used, white toner transfer, vinyl, DTF the temp for synthenics is typically around 300*F. for less than 30 -45 seconds. Less time for some methods, again, I don’t know what was used so I can’t give specifics.

Oh you are awesome @MunchingonHay! Thank you for the tip :innocent:
I’ll give that a go and hopefully be rid of it

Or take a black permanent marker and neatly color the letters in. Let dry well before washing

OP you seem to have a weird thing against the current popular riding clothes? If you don’t like it don’t wear it, why make a thing out of it?

I don’t think there is anything “weird” about not wanting be a billboard advertisement for the manufacturers of riding clothes.

I think OP is now getting back to riding after a time away? I find the OP’s threads interesting, but then again I’m not au courant in the show world either, and haven’t been for many years.

@tabula_rashah, may you awake to find all your helmets covered in velveteen, your half-chaps turned to full and your silicone breeches patches turned to dry clean-only suede.

 Not to mention boots without zippers, but with a helpful pair of boot pulls.

I’m very grateful riding clothes have moved with the times.

Mostly.

However I agree on the logo thing (let’s not draw attention to my thighs, they aren’t what they were 30 years ago…) and my favorite pair of boots are 25 years old and have no zippers. They don’t make them like they used to. The next pair of custom boots I buy will be zipperless konigs or Petries, which had better see me out.

Many people would prefer not to look like a NASCAR driver who ran out of gas and had to borrow a horse.

You count me in the I am not a bill board crowd. I don’t mind a small tasteful logo, but the company name emblazoned big enough to read when I am cantering by is a no unless said company wants to pay me for advertising.

Is there a worse offender than Holland & Cooper?

The model is actually hiding one of the logos with her arm.
