Riderless Horses and Horseless Riders--matchmaking service!
alternate_universe, sounds like we need a website that’s most similar to a dating website - creating the “perfect match” for horse and rider. I need to talk to my web programmer boyfriend about this.

Apparently there IS one? (www.horsematch.net) But it’s pretty limited. I think it could be successful as just a posting board for Horseless Riders/Riderless Horses. Subcategories by region (Mid-Atlantic, New England, South, Mid-West, Northwest, West, Southwest…) Threads according to each state within the regions.
That is a fantastic idea!

Horseless Rider in Whatcom/Skagit area

I’ve recently retired my beloved, unsound 18 year-old mule and I’m already pining to get back in the saddle. I can’t afford lessons or a lease but I am a sensitive, capable rider and would love to join you on the trail if you have a spare mount! Looking for an occasional opportunity more than a regular gig.

Partial Lease Opportunity near Gordonsville, VA

Looking for someone to partially lease my almost 11 year old 16.3 hand Hanoverian/TB gelding. He has been in moderate work for the last four months with my trainer. To continue to progress in his training, he needs to be ridden more, but my work and school schedule does not allow me to ride more than once a week.

I am looking for someone who is interested in an on-site partial lease arrangement at my trainer’s barn near Gordonsville, VA. It is a short (less than 5 miles) drive from the Zion Crossroads exit off I64. I am a novice rider with some experience showing at local dressage shows and combined tests. The ideal partner for this situation is a rider who is comfortable riding a good-natured, pleasant horse with bold movement in an open ring, sometimes with another rider but sometimes alone. The facility is owned and managed by a professional trainer and competitor.

Please PM if interested!

looking for a dressage horse, on or off-site lease- WNY

Looking for a nice dressage horse. 16.2+ and not spooky.
Iv ridden and owned for 15 years.

I just lost my heart horse 2 weeks ago, and I would like to get back in the saddle with the right horse. We were showing 1st level, and training 2nd and 3rd level.

Not looking to buy at the moment, but can offer board at the barn I have been boarding at, or if within a reasonable distance, full lease at your facility. (Ransomville, NY)

Thank you.

Horseless Rider in Nashville, TN

I am a college student coming home for the summer (will be home mid-May to the end of August). I have 14 years of experience in H/J and can ride pretty much anything- I’m 5’2 and 100 lb so that includes ponies. Before leaving for college I was showing my hunter in Children’s and schooling 3’6 at home; would’ve moved up to Juniors but we were selling my boy and wanted him to remain eligible for first year green. Whenever I am home a friend graciously lets me ride her foxhunters, but they are already ridden regularly so it is more of an occasional opportunity rather than a regular gig. I would be willing to do barn chores for rides as well.

Horse Needs Exercise in Littleton / Denver, Colorado

I’ve got a 15 year old, 15.3 hand, gray TB gelding that is super out of shape. He’s on pasture board in Littleton. They do have a lighted indoor and outdoor arena and lots of trails (although he’s a terrible trail horse, but may get better with some work!) - it’s a good quiet barn, but not a show or hunter/jumper barn. He’s very happy there.

Just looking for someone who might want a horse to hack around. I need someone with experience as he can get hot and a little spooky at times. He’s got his quirks, but is a pretty good boy and well broke despite being out of shape. I showed him in the Childrens then Low A/O jumpers before stopping showing about 4 years ago. I’ve owned him since he was 3.

He’s a fun horse to ride and you wouldn’t need to pay me anything - maybe just chip in on grain every once in awhile.

Send me a PM if you’re interested - thanks!

TB Hunter - I’m outside M’boro and have a TB gelding that could use riding. My place is not fancy (that’s an understatement!) but I’d be glad to have you come out.

horseless rider in tri city area, NC from July

I’m an experienced rider who will be in NC from July. One of my top priorities is to get into riding again, so I’m going to be looking into lessons but would love to go out riding with someone if they had a horse that needed work. I was a wrangler for a summer in '09 (last time I rode consistently) and worked with difficult horses of all ages/with varying issues while leading groups of guests out. I also have experience with youngsters from 3 and up. I’m willing to pitch in with barn chores etc, and can provide references. I have ~15 years experience including owning 2 previous horses, teaching, unrec eventing & HJ. I’m happy to ride English or Western. I have also taken a set of Polo lessons so know the basics!

Where in MD is your horse? My farm is close to Fair Hill but over the state line in PA. I have it rented to people who co-op. Would this horse be close enough to go there? It’s a self care barn.

Riderless Horse, Durham, NC

Hello,

I have a 11 year old OTTB mare that would I would love to find a rider for. She has had some dressage training (Patrick Marley) although it’s been a few years. I am only able to ride her once a week right now and am starting grad school in the fall so she doesn’t get the attention she needs.

Tori is 15.3h and her attitude varies greatly day to day so she really needs a confident intermediate rider. She doesn’t do well being forced into anything and needs a rider with very soft hands and a quiet riding style. She’s not crazy by any means but occasionally gives a half hearted hop or two when she doesn’t want to do something. She is a head tosser for sure  There is a good sized ring on the farm she’s at (North Durham), but not really any trails, although you could hack around the property (Tori can be a little spooky out of the ring though).

Anyway, please contact me at half_halt_raleigh@yahoo.com if you’re interested in coming to meet her. Thanks for reading!

South Florida (Fort Lauderdale/Broward County)

Horseless rider in South Florida (Broward Co.). I’m an experienced 30something aged HJ rider with plenty of mileage riding, as well as with care and handling. I’ve owned and leased in the past, and can ride sensitive horses well. I’m back to once-a-week lessons due to financial circumstances, so I would love to have the opportunity to hack, and am willing and able to ride a variety of horses (as well as pitch in with necessary grooming, mane pulling and light barnwork).

Sigh!

One Hanoverian -strong 2nd level (when worked would LOVE to be ridden more regularly. A major mover -just asking for a rider (needs intermediate level).

Lots of wonderful trail horses (Percherons) would love to be ridden (or driven). Some have lower level dressage training.

One Lusitano stallion -green but willing.

All need work, love attention and fun and my husband and I only have so much time!

These are all quality animals, most are well trained and would love more attention. Any takers? Located in Canton/Jasper GA

Would you be willing to let your hanoverian move to another farm out of state with refrences? I am a bronze and silver USDF medalist in need of a horse to ride and show. I own a farm in NJ www.bountifulblessingsfarm.homestead.com

Horseless Rider in Los Angeles, CA

Just stumbled across this board, and thought I’d write a quick post, and crossing my fingers someone needs the help in the Los Angeles area.

I have been riding for 20 years. I have trained in Hunters, but really enjoy Jumpers. I’ve trained with top trainers in Texas and Los Angeles, including an international grand prix rider. I’ve been out of the saddle for 6 months due to an injury and work, but would love the opportunity to help someone who needs it. I’ve trained at home up to 4’ but generally have shown in the lower 3’ to 3’‘6 levels. I have jumped up to 4’9’’ on very forgiving horses. I am comfortable on all types of horses from the lazier eq. horse to the stronger grand prix mount. I’m perhaps a little out of “riding shape” due to the time off, but I know what I’m doing and ride well. Willing to provide recommendations from previous trainers if needed.

Horseless rider in the Seattle area

I recently retired my 23 year old dressage mare, she is a prima donna and refuses to accept pasture boarding so I’m stuck paying full board for awhile. I’m looking for a dressage or trail riding mount. I’ve been riding sporadicaly for the last two years as we’ve been fighting injurys and time. I’ve ridden up to second level and have dabbled in third. I’m willing to help with chores, or take lessons, or just be a hacking partner. I would prefer a quieter mount as my mare was (and still is) very hot. I will bring horse cookies and human cookies!

Soon to be riderless horse in Indy, IN area

And by soon, I mean that he will be riderless starting in August going through next August unless I can find a leaser for him!

He is a 2004 dark bay OTTB gelding that I will be putting up for free lease this summer.

Riderless horse in NE/central ohio

I have a 4yo ottb gelding who is in need of a rider. Thought I had one then had to move horse and the move ended up outside of riders comfort level of gas useage.
I would be riding him but broken foot with dr hinting that surgery will be done so I am looking for someone for the summer, maybe longer depending on foot and Dr.
He is fairly green as not a lot has been done with him as broken foot occured just as I was getting him into training to do something. Figures huh. He has a good attitued the OTTB “ask me if, I dont understand then tell me how to do, then I will do my best to do” type atitude. So he needs an intermideate /advanced rider, one who is willing to listen to what to do, or one who knows what they are doing.
And no drama at all.
Thanks

Experienced show hunter rider-St. Louis

I would love to find someone to help me ride my young warmblood hunters. Recent increased workload hinders my time in the saddle! Must be very experienced show rider and enjoy young horses. (These horses are very green.)

I am moving to Rolla, MO this summer but as I’ll only be there from June through September, my horse is staying in NY. I have ridden and shown hunters before, though I’ve been riding primarily dressage for the past few years. I got my guy when he was a very green 4 y/o and put his training on him myself, so I have experience with greenies, and have pretty good stickability, if I do say so myself.
If come June you’re still looking for riders, please let me know!
