Riders for Courtney King-Dye in E.A, Columbus, OHIO ?

Was very inspired to see very good riding in Columbus yesterday (I missed attending Friday for my own clinic!).

Was also very pleased to see Courtney teach after watching her talents at the World Cup in 2007. She is an amazing teacher – poised, FOR THE HORSE FIRST … and very well spoken. … Very capable of picking out the most pressing issue from a CORRECT TRAINING standpoint (not from a schooling the movement at all costs standpoint). Bravo!

I did not have a rider list, but the first names were: Sue (stated by Courtney to a judge), Katie, Betsy, Nichol and a 5th pair that I can’t recall.

Does anyone know who these riders were? Or, who their horses were?

They were all very pleasing to watch … and it was also fun to watch them develop within the sessions. How nice to drive so far … and have it be WORTH IT!

Feel free to PM me with rider names if needed. Thanks!

I just loved the little haflinger on Friday boy could that little thing move… I was most impressed and saw the biggest improvement with that pair… The riders told Courtney before their rides what issues they were having with their horses.

One of my members posted an extremely good review of this clinic. Since it is their post I will not copy it here.

We saw the late morning clinic on Friday and whoever the first rider was on the mare…I have to comment what a BEAUTIFUL, breathtaking horse that is! And, also comment on what a lovely soft ride the owner (?) gave it. Courtney said that all of the mare’s training had been done by the owner. What a lovely team they made.

Wow, wish I could have been there…

I have the book “Lessons With Lendon” and Courtney is the main rider in the pictures.
She was a working student for Lendon at the time those articles were written.

Even though I’ve never even met Lendon, I feel like I have, just from reading her book.
It’s SO clear, down to earth, and really has given me the confidence that I CAN do dressage.

I am guessing that Lendon’s teaching style has strongly influenced Courtney’s. I would love to ride in a lesson with either one someday…

Was there a white horse in the clinic? I think someone from my barn was riding there, but I’m not sure if she was in this clinic or not. Her name is Courtney also, and she has a white Connemara gelding that goes 4th/PSG. I’m sorry I didn’t get to watch - sounds like it was EXCELLENT!

No…there was a Dutch, Danish, Oldenburg, Haflinger, and one other horse (it was black/dark bay I think, I didn’t catch its breed). I posted my clinic notes here… http://www.ultimatedressage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=129476

Someone mentioned that the clinic was being discussed on this board…thank you for your compliments on my mare. She is very lovely and I’m very lucky to have her. Thanks again!

SWN…did you have the first mare in the Friday 11 am clinic?

You ARE lucky! She was gorgeous and correctly muscled and just a beauty! People in the stands were gasping at her canter! Congrats.

And you looked great too!

SWN – Are you able to give out names of riders?

I asked this question, specifically, so that I could learn more about each … and retain these contacts as potential trainer/ clinician material.

The riders were all pretty accomplished and the horses free moving and happy (well, eat least for the most part, that was the case).

Well, I actually only know one other rider and really not that well as she is a dressage judge. We really weren’t introduced to each other…just have first names. I am an amateur owner so in the same boat as you all.

I did have the mare who went first on Friday and in the second group on Saturday.

Would recommend riding with her at anytime. She was quite nice for the little time I chatted with her.

Darn … it’s really too bad.

No one seems to know the names and they weren’t announced. I guess they will go down in history as ther really nice anonymous riders we got to see with Courtney?
