Riding at FDR State Park, Georgia

We had a one day break in the rain with a beautiful day Sunday. A couple of friends and I headed to FDR State Park in Pine Mountain Georgia. We had a great day. Even though we’ve had several inches of rain fall the trails were in good shape and there was water in the creeks. The terrain is much more challenging than we’re used to here in the flatlands of middle Georgia and an 8 mile trail ride whooped my horse’s butt. The stable is under new management and I liked what I heard and saw while I was there. These folks seem very nice and excited about the future of the trail system in the park. I’m excited about some of the plans he has for future horse camping opportunities.

My BF knows the folks running the stable. She is impressed with what they have done and how the horses look. For the record - BF is not easily impressed when it comes to horse care.

Beautiful area, I miss visiting Pine Mtn. Lived just up the road for decades so visits to Callaway Gardens and picnics on the mountain were just part of fun.

Glad you had a fun day!
