No idea which terms I used to find them, but have seen these during an ebay search. It also turned up walking canes with concealed swords, which also never knew existed.
I wouldn’t classify that as hunting equipment. I think they were used by the cavalry.

I absolutely LOFF it, and would definitely have a bid, but unfortunately I suspect that thing might be illegal to own or ship to my state. :no: If sword canes are illegal as “concealed weapons” I can’t think this would not be, as well. Le sigh.

My mother had a riding crop with a sharp rod inside. Wish I still had it. I posted about it a while ago and another COTHer found a simmilar one.
ThMy mother’s was very hard and didn’t make a good crop per se but gave one comfort when out alone. If someone were to grab the crop the cover would pull of. Just hiting one with that thing would hurt like hell. My brothers and I used it on eachother at times.

My dad has the same thing that he bought at a Flea Market somewhere. He was told that ladies carried them for protection when riding alone.
After a too-close encounter with a probable dope dealer in the woods last year, I made a fly-whisk out of an old WWII “swagger stick.” You can see them on E-bay and in surplus stores. This one has the pointy end made from a very sharp bullet, which you don’t notice as it’s hidden in the hair.
I was advised by the ranger I bought my trail riding permit from to carry a whip as protection ALWAYS. This was in the Wash., D.C., suburbs, so not bad advice. I suspect my OTTB’s wariness and speed were BETTER protection, though. Nobody was gonna get NEAR!!!
