I am thinking of a June trip up that way. We did the Townsend, TN side of GSMNP and I’m curious about the riding on the Bryson City side. I found a place to camp, but would love to hear about the trails, the area, restaurants, etc.
Thanks much !

Even tho I live in the area, I’ve never ventured out on the local trails. I love trail riding, but most of the indogenous trail riders are mounted on gaited horses which would be a challenge for my slow-legged QH (well, most trail company is a challenge for him … ). I know there are some nice trails starting in the Deep Creek area, and also right inside the park near Cherokee.
But if you do come up this way, give a holler so we can get together for some socializing. I don’t know much about restaurants in Bryson City, but know my way around Sylva and Dillsboro.
How did I miss this??? I live here
What do you want to know? Food… Anthony’s for Italian… YUMMY… there are also some fancy restaraunts…
You can also head over to Cherokee for the Casino… Great food there… Just opened a Paula Dean rest. plus there is an awesome Buffet inside.
Trails are better in Bryson than in Cherokee… I would LOVE to meet up with you… and Monstr, I can bring you a nice gaited horse to ride if you wanna come too!
Are you staying at the Deep Creek Stables? I know the owner
If I miss this post and you need more info, feel free to PM or email me!
Actually, I just thougth of another place to stay… ThomasDivide You don’t have to trailer to the trail head. There is an actual barn to stay in, plus some turn out… And you can either camp from your trailer or they have a cabin you can rent…
It’s a LOT quieter, so if you want the whole camping experience, you might want Deep Creek.
