Riding in Paris, France

Bonjour!
My husband and I will be traveling to Paris in September. I am wondering if there are any horseback riding facilities that anyone could recommend? There are quite a few equestrian vacations, but I am looking for more of a couple hours long trail ride just to have some saddle time while we’re away.
Merci!

Paris is a lot like NYC in terms of horses. You’re gonna need a car or taxi money (don’t even think about taking an Uber though). You’re probably better off expanding your search to “Ile-de-France” which is the larger region. This opens up a lot of great rides, including Fontainebleau and some chateaux.

Other keywords: centre equestre or ecurie (stable), balade à cheval or promenade cheval (trail ride).

I don’t know any places in particular so can’t really recommend anything but I did find this:

Bonne chance!

There’s a place in the Bois de Bologne that hosts shows and I think you can trail ride there.

That is a pretty pricy 2h ride @ 290EU

Not sure about paying close to 300 euros for a trail ride in Versailles and I question the “quality” of that trail ride… Do they really provide access to the park itself?? I would prefer to walk the park of Versailles honestly.

I do know that the one offered in the Vallee de Chevreuse will at least have beautiful scenery and its only 180 euros. That is truly a gorgeous suburb of Paris and I lived there for a few years in addition to central Paris.

These places all offer lessons but not sure about trail rides (rare to find trail rides these days in Paris because most of these are “club Hippiques” meaning they are clubs that require a membership and lesson package or boarding package). This is the most current version of a riding stable in France. :

Your best bet is to contact any of the businesses listed on this site, which listes trail riding barns outside of Paris. Trail riding is called “Randonnées Equestre” in French. I’ll bet some of them can accomodate you for a lovely weekend in the country!! and for a whole lot less $$.

Have fun!!!

Thanks for the info! WOW was it not what I was expecting
Maybe I’ll just take a break from riding tear and enjoy Paris for everything else it has to offer. I’ll spend the time preparing for what my own horse is going to be like from having his own 2 weeks off! Thanks again!

There is so much more to see in Paris to worry about getting some saddle time also. I just got back from there in Wednesday. I walked an average of 10 miles a day. I did 7 in the Lourve alone. See everything you can while you are there. There will be plenty of time to ride when you get home.

And my horse had 2 weeks off too while I was gone.
