Riding in Park City, Utah

My family is planning a vacation to Park City, Utah in a couple weeks, and we are hoping to do one day of trail riding – not necessarily all day, but certainly far enough to see some country side and enjoy a horsey experience.

I ride capably enough, but my family, although reasonably fit and athletic, are pretty, uh, cautious sorts, at least as far as getting on a horse. I am looking for recommendations for trail ride operations that are well run and oriented to safety, i.e., we won’t have to beg to get helmets, will match people to horses and ride activities that are suitable to their skill level, etc.

This place looks promising, but there is no evidence of any helmets in the photos.

Don’t send me other google results, I can find google myself. I am looking for references for tour companies you’ve actually used or know. Thanks!

There is a concessionaire at Soldier Hollow, and I think the same outfit also does rides at Sundance, both scenic areas and different ride lengths.

If you want helmets, you’ll have to bring your own, that is not a feature anywhere that I know of, including Grand Canyon mule rides.

As Beverley said, most places do not have helmets. Have fun in Park City, we have friends out there and have gone out there annually for many years. Great little city!

I recommend Sundance. I took several trail rides there, though granted it was years ago. Nice horses, and spectacular scenery. I brought my own helmet from home. Actually no, I brought my helmet on a Club Med riding vacation. I think I actually went helmetless at Sundance.

I would also say Sundance.

Blue Sky Ranch is nice. My neighbors, pretty much!

North Forty is in a very pretty spot, too.

Most unlikely you would be supplied with helmets by anyone out here.

For a more exhilarating experience, Wind In Your Hair always used to be fun. Don’t know if she is still around though.

Bring bug spray…
