Riding in Scotland and England

I’m planning a trip to Burghley next year (early September) and I’d like to spend a few days riding in Scotland and England before I head over to watch the trials.

Does anyone have recommendations for a place to ride? I’m an eventer so XC is a plus but trekking would be fun too provided it’s at all paces. I’m looking for somewhere to ride for a day or two and then head to another spot. I’m not really looking for the longer equestrian “vacations”. I don’t quite have enough nerve to go hunting over there - maybe someday!

No suggestions as I went riding in Ireland. Just wanted to chime in on how much flipping fun it was!! Didn’t do any xc schooling, even though it was offered, as I’ve never really jumped outside a ring at home and didn’t want my nerves to take over.

Being able to w/t/c on a hack was such a fun experience. It was so fun that a true riding vacation is on my bucket list. My eventual plan is to set something up where I can ride during the day, husband can golf during the day, and we can meet up for dinner.

They’re riding options over there are so much better than here in Ontario where most trail riding vacations are simply at a walk.

Yes, Ireland is great! I rode there a few years ago and am going back this year as well. Such a fun experience to do XC over there.

I’m switching it up next year by trying somewhere new.
