Riding interval timer app?

Looking for recommendations, please…

Are there any easy-to-use iPhone apps that will allow me to set timers for various riding activities?

For instance, press start and commence walking 15 minutes, alarm sounds and Siri says “Trot for 3 minutes,” alarm sounds, Siri says “Walk for 1 minute,” alarm sounds, Siri says “Reverse and trot for 3 minutes,” and so on.

Not to overprogram what is really a pretty basic ride, but I am just getting back in the saddle after a few months off and thinking I’d like to challenge myself in a more structured manner than just stopping/changing gait whenever I get tired. This way I would know exactly how long I was trotting/cantering each time, how hard or easy it is, and allow me to program in progressively longer sets as I regain fitness. My horse has remained in training so he’s good to go, it’s me who wants to regain a basic level of fitness before resuming lessons.

Anyone know of any any apps like this? Thank you in advance!

I don’t have a specific riding app, but I have an app called interval timer that I use for running that I can program intervals for.

Had one for 50 years. It’s called a wrist watch. Recommended by all the top horsemen I trained with.

Any of the tabata apps will work for this. I used to have one on my phone, don’t remember the name, but you could set it as you describe. You can name each activity and set the interval length.

I have EquiTrak on my iPhone. There are “programs” on it, but to be honest I’ve never used them. I always just do “manual” and do my own thing. So I’m not sure if it would do quite what you describe but worth checking out anyway.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone

Got Interval Timer, created a custom routine and think it will do the trick. Thanks again!

Interval timer is what I use for no stirrup work and such. Works great for me riding and also at gym and out running. You can program many different routines and save them. Very helpful

I usually time my rides to music. I keep a play list with songs that are all around the same length (4:30-5:00) and that lets me keep track of trot and canter sets. An interval timer would also work great, as you’ve mentioned, OP, but I like listening to music anyway!
