Riding is fun!

I haven’t been on the forum much in a while for a number of reasons, most of which fall under the umbrella of “You need to spend more time in the real world and less in the virtual world.” But, I had such a great ride yesterday that I felt the need to come here and post about it.

I’ve just started riding my horse again after a couple of months of having him in full time training. I feel like I dropped off a '57 Ford sedan with no power steering and came back to find a brand new, finely tuned, self-driving Cadillac. I am just so thrilled. I rode yesterday morning and had a smile on my face for the rest of the day. It’s been a long time since I felt this good on a horse.

Anybody else want to share happy springtime riding stories?

Me, me too!

A friend had a 9 year old that needed a nice ranch horse, but one that would only do what the rider wants, not very ambitious.
He took one of ours and the kid was in love with him at first sight.
1 1/2 years later, kid now moving on to more horse, I got the horse back a few days ago.

It is so nice to have my quiet old horse back, a few rides now confirm that.
He is 15 now and just as pleasant to have around as ever.
Nice to have him out there in the mornings, looking into the windows, waiting patiently for his breakfast, wanting his treat and a quick “the world is fine today” face rub to start the day.

We are having a great spring.
Then, they are calling for some snow tomorrow night, will have to see about that.

I picked up my Shotgun from the reining trainer last night. He was only there for 30 days but I’m always amazed the things that trainer can accomplish in 30 days. He’s so nice and soft in his face, and has a great neck rein and moving off my legs good. Can’t wait to get him back on the barrel pattern! (and in the reining pen too)

Red is fun and all … but he’s not laid back like Shotgun. Will be nice to trail ride on a loose rein again!

Glad to hear you are enjoying your horse, OP. I was happy just to spend the afternoon in the saddle yesterday. I’m congested and sneezing this morning and my eyes are almost glued shut due to all the pollen, but can’t wait to do it again today.
