Riding Lessons in South Jersey

I am so excited, my 7 y.o. son wants to start riding lessons! Now I have to find a place to take him and I’m hoping COTH people can help. I am very flexible for discipline of the instructor, what I consider more important is safety, good basics and that my son has fun. Also very important is that the instructor have an appropriate beginner safe pony/small horse. I am even open to a western instructor if they will help teach my son a love for riding. I event and would love for my son to want to event as well, but I will be happy if he at least wants to trail ride.

We live in Vineland, NJ and our zip is 08360. Please pass along any info/recommendations for instructors in my area and help me get this young man riding lessons!

I don’t have any specific recommendations, but I would recommend that you contact your local Pony Club and ask for some leads on a well-run, kid and safety friendly barn for your son. Also, if he sticks with it, consider joining the Pony Club. My son joined when he was 7, after several years of just riding at home. One of his first comments about it was “Pony Club makes riding more fun” He liked having other kids to ride and be friends with. At the time, there were several other boys in our club, but he also made friends with the girls. Now he’s 14, still in Pony Club, and doing all the PC sports.

Most of the places I know are too far north for you, but the people at Eddis Farm seem really nice, and they work with kids -
