Riding Socks

I really like the LeMieux footsie socks. The foot is like a sock and the leg part is thin. I used to wear knee high nylons with a short sock over the top. The LeMieux socks replaced both of those. The leg part is also stronger than the knee high nylons.

I like the Ariat socks, but I also found some cheap, compression socks on Amazon that are thin and comfortable.

Socks and shoes in one motion!

I almost always use fuzzy socks… I’ve found they prevent ankle rubs the best. I don’t really understand the point of tall socks when my breeches are already there. The thin layer of sock isn’t going to do anything. I’d rather use fuzzy socks.

The only time I wear tall socks any more is with my few remaining pairs of breeches that have “leather” knee patches. I find that tall socks stabilize things better so I don’t get rubs.

Smartwool! I like the light cushion ski socks and the compression running socks. I buy designs on closeout and sort of lean into the weird patterns. Wool keeps me cool in summer and warm in winter, keep my feet dry in all conditions, don’t shift around or leave blisters, and hold up to years of wear without wearing through or stretching out.

merino wool socks are life changing. Good for undergarments also.

I just started carrying these in my store and we keep selling out. People love them!

IMHO Tredstep Solo Pros are the most perfect equestrian sock! They are thick in all the right places and thin in other areas to keep your feet cool.

I like these as well. I have a few pair.

Going to check out some of your recos at the tack shop tomorrow! I also found some Nike Dri Fit running socks that look promising, I just need to order my size.

Resurrecting this thread to share that I have found socks I love! I tried so many meant-for-riding socks, but ultimately landed on running socks! I now have a fat stack of these Nike Spark compression socks.

These sound like the Noble Peddies that were my previous favorite, I’ll have to check them out! I like more cushioning on the foot but thin on the leg!

I use either gold toe socks, which are dress socks, or Danish Endurance wool dress socks.

My feet have gotten particular and will hurt if the socks are to thick. I used to wear boots a size to big in the winter and thicker socks but that’s a no go anymore either…such prima donnas, my feet are.

Tredstep Pro Socks are my favorites. They’re so soft and thin but more cushy on the footbed without being bulky. A few colors are at Dover.

Any suggestions for socks that are extra thick at the back of the ankle? My tall boots give me blisters there every time.

Kentucky makes boot socks with gel over the achilles area. I get the worst rubs on the back of my ankles and these are amazing!

So tall socks… I love the complimentary pair of LeMieux black socks that I got.

But realistically, I’ve started riding with Nike and Adidas sports socks. So they are like “half-calf”. They’re like the socks that Gen Z wears in the gym. They’re long enough to cover the sock part of the breeches but not all the way to top of the boot where I can get a closer feel.

That’s exactly what I have resorted too. Sock fit/feel was more important to me in the foot/ankle than all the way up the calf.

I use these with the gel swung around to my heel.
