Apologies for the wildly specific topic, but… What riding socks is everyone wearing? I cannot find a good pair of seamless, not paper thin socks that don’t get stretched and “mushy” in my boots!
The kerrits Dual Zone boot socks are by far my favorite. Thicker foot, thinner calf, black ring around the top in case it does peek out of a tall boot. Dover has a riding sport version that’s similar, but a bit less stretchy than the Kerrits.

im a psycho and don’t ride in tall socks
i ride in running socks, low ones, with a bit of a higher/ padded heel. lululemon running socks, smart wool, darn tough running socks, etc. merino wool is my favorite
i don’t like a lot of ‘stuff’ between me and the horse
i also live somewhere warm / hot and avoid extra layers
no i never get rubs or rashes or anything
I ride in kirkland merino trail socks. They are a wool/nylon blend crew sock that has a reinforced toe and heel (although I wear through the heel rather quickly). I only ride in tall socks when I want to feel fancy
Sigvaris athletic compression socks make the best riding boot socks I have worn. They are about $40 for a pair. I found them first while I was still foxhunting in pull on boots, and now I wear them for everything even remotely athletic, like mucking. They make rubber Muck brand boots comfortable too.
PS of Sweden have actually lasted the longest for me. I didn’t expect to love them when I added them to my cart just to get to the minimum for free shipping but here we are I have several pairs.
I only wear tall socks with my few remaining pairs of breeches that don’t have silicon “patches.”
For winter, or what passes for it in these parts, Costco wool socks. Not too thick. Roughly crew length.
The rest of the time, I wear socks from my collection of fun, ankleish-length socks from teaching. I try to stick to the ones that aren’t too thin.
I don’t know the brand but I got them on amazing. They are a copper compression sock and are 10/10.
Hiking socks always. Snowboarding/skiing socks in the winter. I like Smartwool or Darn Tough. Both have lasted me forever!
Same! Haha!
I love the Kirkland women’s trail song. Padded foot, comfortable heel and minimal thickness around the ankle. Plus the correct amount of slip inside the boot without feeling like it is actually too slippery with your leg sliding around.
I finally found my people lmao! Team short socks
Those are the same ones I buy. They were also very useful while photographing the aurora last year.
Noble Outfitters make my favorite riding socks. Cushy where they need to be, and thin, (but not like a pair of tights) past the ankle. I have several pair.
I just use knee high panty hose
Thank you everyone!!
Hear me out- the B Vertigo wool blend socks are amazing. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter, no sweating, and just the right amount of thickness for good padding.
I buy the cute pairs every so often, but most frequently use men’s tall socks (think the black tall work socks)
I just buy whatever knee socks are cheap on Amazon. I think I got 10 for $10, and are still going through them.
Same!
I actively hated socks until I discovered wool socks. I am kind of hard on socks in general and have made use of Darn Tough’s lifetime warranty more than a few times. They keep my feet warm in winter, and they keep my feet dry and cool enough in summer because wool is a pretty amazing fiber…
I am also an active sock hater! First thing to come off when I get home. Well after the shoes I guess
